Happy New Year!!!!

Standard

Hello to my wonderful blog family…..my first post for the New Year!  I’ve been blessed to have my Mom here off and on over the holidays and she’s in Saskatchewan, between my sister’s house and mine, till the 15th of January!!  I love it when she comes to visit because we usually end up down in my craft room playing.  We’ve pretty much spent the last two days down here and playing with my Cricut machine……having a blast too!!  I also spent some time making a card for the Alphabet Challenge over on the Splitcoaststampers (SCS) site that I’ve been kind of MIA from for a while.  Busy, busy life I have.  I dug out a stamp set I’ve had for a few months and decided it was time it saw some ink.  I love this set and will work great for those hard to create masculine cards.  Here’s what I came up with for the letter Y – Yacht.  (clever, huh….LOL)

IMG_0795

This is the stamp set called Open Sea by Stampin’ Up!.  I bought the paper pack to go with the stamp set too……it’s filled with fantastic papers that will lend themselves wonderfully to masculine cards.

I’m off again to go back to playing with Mom in the craft room…..I’ll come back and show you some more cards this week…..we’ve been having alot of fun with my Cricut machine.  Later lovely ladies!!

Huggsss,

Yvonne  🙂

My first project to show you using the amazing June kit!!!

Standard

Hello to my blogging friends!!  I’m sorry I’ve been MIA for most of this month…..I came down with a virus that just knocked the crap out of me.  Still not 100% but better than I was!

Have I got a scrapbooking/cardmaking kit to show you!!!  The on-line store that I design for, Scrap ‘n With Flair , has released their June kit and I gotta tell you……it’s fantastic!!  It full of beautiful paper, ribbon, bling, embellishments, flowers, die cuts…..holy cow!!  Here’s a little peek at what the kit includes:

The Kit includes the following:

18 – 12 x 12 double sided papers (which are fantastic…..creams, blacks, a beautiful deep red.  If you like images of bird cages and lace, these are some of the patterns…..there are lots more and they’re all gorgeous)

8 – 8 x 8 double sided papers (these match the larger 12 x 12 papers)

24 inches of lace

12 inches of black flat back bling

1 pkg of Fab Scrap’s Stickers

1 Fab Scrap’s chipboard album

1 pkg of various bling and metal embellishments

1 pkg of variuos I Am Roses flowers (these flowers are beautiful…..if you’ve never seen an I Am Roses flower, you need to!!)

Various die cuts including rosettes.

The flowers aren’t shown in the picture above so here’s a pic of just the package of flowers that’s included…..

These flowers are a mulberry paper flower and can be inked, misted, spritzed, painted….they’re soooo very nice!!

This kit is only $35.00 and is jam packed with some oh so cool goodies!!

Okay, so I’ve been playing with this kit a little bit and have a few projects done and some started.  Here’s a card I made using some of the papers from the kit, a rosette and a couple of the die cuts and black half back bling.  Check it out!

Check out that rosette!!  You get a few of these beauties with different edges and sizes, all ready die cut out for you and perferated, so all you have to do is fold them back and forth, glue the ends together, flatten it out (which is sometimes easier said than done…..lol) and glue it down to a small piece of paper.  I inked the outside edges of this one with my Tim Holtz Ranger Distress ink in Black Soot and adheared it to the top corner of my card.  I inked the top of the flower as well to add some definition to the folds of the rosette.  I topped it off with a black half back pearl (included in the kit) and tadaaaa!!!

The little die cut birds also come in the kit.  They come as a set of 4 and are all attached in a row.  I decided to cut two of them out and use them on this card.  I inked the edges of them with the Black Soot ink and added a small black half back pearl from the kit.  There are also a couple of  ‘stems’ included that I also inked in the Black Soot and adheared to the card to make it look like the stem of the rosette with a branch for the little bird to sit on.  Check out the string of the bling!!  Yup, included in the kit….love it!

So here’s the whole card…….

The Happy Birthday sentiment is a stamp I used from my stash.  I stamped it using the Black Soot ink and then inked the edges of it and pop-dotted it onto the card front.  The top corner looked a little bare so I cut three of the black half back bling off the string and arranged it so it would fit into the corner.  I also pop-dotted the second bird up over the sentiment.

So, there you have it.  My first post as an official Design Team member for Scrap ‘n With Flair.  I hope you like it and as always, I love to read your comments.  I’m off to do some more work on my other little project I’m working on with this kit……till next time!

Huggss,

Yvonne  😉

Live Inspired….Love You….Thank You….Happy Birthday….

Standard

We were at the cabin a few weekends ago and I was in a more CAS mood.  I usually like to distress and mess up my cards…..I went with a more of a clean look and not allot on the cards.  I was on a roll and made a few of them (and I thought I’d save you some email space and post all four of them in one post…..lol):

How ’bout that little pop of orange??  I used one of my swirl stamps which is from a set that I believe was the Martha Stewart swirls set (but I honestly don’t remember for sure) and stamped onto the bottom of my card base with my versamark stamp pad.  (love that stamp pad!!)  I added the word paper strip which is from a Making Memories paper called Brun Antique Dictionary.  I found this 12 x 12 paper in a pack of 25 of the same two-sided sheets and just fell in love with it!!  This is going to be soooo versatile and I know I’ll use it allot (as you’ll see with these cards….lol).  The cute bird pair is from my Inkadinkado stamp set called You are a True Friend and was colored in with my Tim Holtz Peeled Paint Distress Ink.  I also added another swirl to the printed DP which was stamped in Tim Holtz Dried Marigold Distress ink.  The ‘Live Inspired’ was taken from a portion of a Close To My Heart stamp from the set with the same name and stamped and edged in Rich Cocoa Memento ink.

This card also uses that very cool Making Memories Brun Antique Dictionary paper.  The flowers were made from two different stamp sets – one using a stem and leaf stamps from a set I’ve had forever and don’t even know who it’s made by. The flower is from a new set I just got from Stampin’ Up! called ‘Faith in Nature’.  I LOVE this set and I know I’ll use it allot.  I sponged the flower portions with some Tim Holtz Dried Marigold and Antique Linen Distress ink and also inked the edges of the printed DP with the Dried Marigold and some Rich Cocoa Memento ink.  The sentiment is taken from a portion of a stamp from my Hot Off The Press stamp set called ‘Matching Borders & Focals’.  It was stamped and edged in the Memento Rich Cocoa ink.   The lace strip was attached under and was colored using my Tim Holtz blending tool and my Antique Linen Distress Ink.

This was a quick and fun card to put together.  That pear stamp is a new fave of mine from  my Stampin’ Up! Faith in Nature set.  I stamped it onto a plain piece of cream-colored cardstock and inked it with some Tim Holtz Peeled Paint and Dried Marigold Distress Ink and my sponge daubers.  I didn’t like the look of my plain cardstock so I grabbed one of my wooden skewers that I keep in my tool pouch and stamped it into the Memento Rich Cocoa ink and dotted it onto the paper using the flat end and the pointed end for some depth to the paper.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set and inked in the Memento Rich Cocoa.  It was matted a layered a couple of times and I punched a border in some rusty colored cardstock using my Stampin’ Up! Scallop Trim Border punch.  Added some liquid pearls and Taaa Daaa….lol

Okay, so that’s it for a while.  I’m going to be heading to a trade show this afternoon with one of my DIL’s and then I’ll be back to play.  Have a most wonderful day!  Chao.

Huggss,

Yvonne  😉

Victorian Happy Birthday

Standard

Okay, this is the last post for this little sprint…..really!!  I think I’ll head to bed after this one….lol.  This card was also made for the Virtual Stamp Night over on the SCS site, however, like the first card I  made….I didn’t get it completed within the 45 minute time frame.  Oh well, no biggy…..I’m sure I can still use it or sell it!!  Now I know you’re all probably real surprised that I chose a Victorian theme for this card…..I can’t help it…..my mind just goes all vintagy on me when I start making cards….lol.

This card was done with paper found in a paper stack I found when we were over in Hawaii at their local Wal-Mart of all places!!  This is from a pack made by Colorbok called “Rosewood”.  Yup, a whole paper pack of vintagy goodness!!!  Anyway,  this  is a 4″ x 8″ card and will fit into a business size envelope.  The sentiment was stamped onto the torn piece of DP and inked with Tim Holtz Tattered Rose distress ink.  The entire piece of paper the sentiment is on was torn, distressed and inked with the Tattered Rose distress ink as well.  The sentiment stamp is from my Close To My Heart set called Celebration.  I’ve added some half pearls and a swirl of half pearls to the one end of the card.  I also put a strip of lace on the bottom of the card front and trimmed it with a couple of strips of mini half pearls.

The main piece of DP was also distressed and inked with my Tim Holtz Vintage Photo distress ink before it was attached to the card front.  Then the card front itself was also distressed and inked with the Vintage Photo distress ink.  The beautiful flower is from a package of six from the local Dollar Store and inked with my Tattered Rose distress ink and attached to the card with a glue dot.  I love those flowers and they came in a few different colors.  They fit in quite well with my vintage style I must say…..lol.

So, that’s it!!  I’m all caught up.  I’ll see what I end up creating tomorrow and see what other inked up backgrounds I decide to try for Lauren’s challenge this week.  There are sooo  many on my list of techniques to try…..time will tell!!  Till tomorrow my blogging friends.  Thanks so much for your clicks onto my site……it’s funny how I’ve started to watch that silly number now…..oh well.

Huggss,

Yvonne  😉

Little girls birthday…..

Standard

Hey there peeps…..I’m on a roll so thought, why quit now??!!!  Here is a card I made for a challenge that I found out didn’t qualify, because it took me longer than 45 minutes to make it……lol.  Over on the SCS site they have what they call a Virtual Stamp Night where anyone can get together on-line for a Friday evening and the following Saturday afternoon and early evening and make cards.  There is a new card challenge posted every hour…..yup, that’s right….every hour and you’re given 45 minutes to complete the card.  Now, in reality, if you’re not able to make it for the slotted in time of the Virtual Stamp Night you can still play along after the fact until Monday evening and still do all the challenges…..with the same expectation that your card only take you 45 minutes.  HA!  Okay, so I don’t know if I’ve EVER created a card in 45 minutes!!  First, it must take me all of 45 minutes  just to pick out what paper I want to use!!  (and I will clarify though that the time you spend picking out the paper doesn’t count towards your 45 minutes to create your card…..thank goodness or I’d be sunk every time!!) But even taking that into consideration, I still can’t get it done!!  I have to lay everything I picked out ono the card, arrange it, re-arrange it, decide I don’t like an embellishment, change a color up, start cutting everything out, stamp an image (s), distress an edge or two,  ink up an edge or two, decide to then make an embellishment, re-arrange everything again….geesh!!  I don’t know if I’m even capable of cranking out a card in 45 minutes!!!  I have to give these ladies a lot of credit.  They come to these Virtual Stamp Nights prepared with some Go-To card sketches they like to do that are quick and easy, they’ll have a bunch of images stamped and colored, they’ll have backgrounds already done up and ready to go, they’ll have their card bases all cut, scored and folded, ready to go.  They’ll have embellishments handy to be used on any kind of card that may come up…..I tell you…..these are seasoned pro’s!!  I was a rookie that wouldn’t even have made the farm team…..heck, the local rec team for that matter!!!  But you know…..that’s all okay…..because I can still do all the card challenges if I want to…..I’ll just post them on my blog instead!!

So, this colorful little number was made using an embossed piece of cardstock with cupcakes on it…..don’t ask me what the name of it is cause I don’t remember.  I got it when I hosted an embossed cardstock swap and I think it’s pretty darned cute!  That little present was made using my Close To My Heart Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge and the matching stamps.  I cut the main gift out of  bright lime green and yellow striped cardstock and stamped the swirls onto it with the matching stamp for that gift cut out using my Tim Holtz distress ink in Concord Grape.  The stamp is from the Celebration stamp set.  I then traced the swirls with my glue pen and sprinkled some glitter onto the swirls.  Next, what present is complete without a bow….so off to the Cricut again and cut out the matching bow for the gift.  Inked the edges of the gift and the bow with the Concord Grape, pop dotted it onto the card and blinged it up!!

Have I mentioned how much I love my Close To My Heart Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge lately??  I mean, this thing comes with the cartridge, three stamp sets that co-ordinate with some of the cuts from the cartridge and three sets of Dimentional Elements (chipboard shapes, tags and banners)  that also match some of the cuts from the cartridge.  This little shape for the Happy Birthday! sentiment is one of those shapes included with the set.  It gives you the dimensions on the packages so I was able to go to my cartridge and cut out the matching purple piece of cardstock to match the shape, glue it on, stamp it and ink the edges in no time at all!  Added some bling and……….

…one finished birthday card for a cute little girl!

I have to give a shout out to two of  my blogging friends who have pretty much taught me all I do on my blog.  I really like the idea of posting some of the pictures of my cards in full size .  Great idea Lisa and Lauren…..you should really go and check out their blogs if you have some time.  There’s Lisa over at the Crafting Cottage and Lauren over at Laurenscraft.  Amazingly talented ladies who have some beautiful creations on their blogs…..it will be well worth you time to check these ladies out.

Now, another post or leave the rest till tomorrow…..hmmm…..

Once again, I always appreciate it when you come by for a visit…..love to read your comments.  Till next time!

Love Birds……ahhhh

Standard

Round three coming up!  This is such a cute card…..I just love all the little details on this one.

Aren’t those two little birds just too cute!!!  They lend themselves to be very fitting for so many different occasions!!  Valentines, a wedding card, anniversary, birthday, just because, thinking of you…..etc., etc.!  So versatile they are.  And I love the embossed frame…..it’s one of the folders in the Designer Frames set of Textured Impressions Embossing Folders Set..  This oval folder fits the Extra-Large Oval punch (which the birds were stamped onto).  I really like the circle details around this embossed frame…..sets it off so nicely.

I love the little hearts!  Now I forgot to ask ‘Cutter’ (my SU! Demo’s nickname….she’s awesome!!) which folder this is, so I went searching through the catalogues and I’m pretty sure it’s one of the Letterpress Plates called Heart Pressed….so I’m going with that.  She’ll correct me if I’m wrong….lol.  (and only because I just emailed her to ask her.  😉  )  Edit:  lol……nope, I was wrong…..it’s one of the folders from the Adorning Accents sets.

See…..cute card isn’t it?!!  Don’t you think my little photo helper is just the best?  It’s a bear hubby gave me quite a few years ago that was attached to a balloon boquet for Valentines Day……there was a story behind me getting the balloons, because anyone who knows my hubbywill know he doesn’t do things like send balloon bouquets….lol.  Attached to the cute little bear was a little card and on that card was a poem he’d written for me.  Now, you’re probably going…..ahhhh…..he wrote you a poem??!!  How romantic……ya.  This is what the poem said:  “Roses are red, violets are blue(which, I agree, was a good start to the poem).  It went on to say….. I need brownie points, for a new Ski-Doo…..yup, that’s right.  LOL LOL LOL.  He’d had a minor argument with a tree root on a ski-doo trail and his sled kinda lost and bent his ski…hadn’t told me yet, so he thought this would be a good way to break the news to me…ya gotta love the man.  He is inventive….and it totally worked!!  Yup, that’s right, I can be bought with a sweet little bear holding a sign which says “I love you this much” and a balloon bouquet….lol

That’s it for tonight…..I’m off to make an important phone call to a special friend……thanks for stopping by and checking out my cards!  I soooo appreciate it!!

It’s a pool party!!!

Standard

Hello again…..did ya miss me??  teehee.  Don’t you just love the names of the papers from Stampin’ Up!?  This card is one of my new favorites.   Yes, I go through favorite stages…..where I’ll make a card and then won’t want to give it away cause I like it too much…..sooo silly!!  But anyway, here is my latest fave….

The colors are slightlyoff in the pic I think, but I love the combo of  the Pool Party with the Wisteria Wonder.  The Wisteria Wonder is a sort of purple/grey color andn I just love it!  The strips of ‘ribbon’ looking paper was embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder and then cut into strips and the ‘V’s’ cut out to make the strips look like ribbon.  Then a strip of Wisteria Wonder was added to the top of the embossed strips and topped with another strip of the Pool Party cardstock that had been edged using the Pinking Hearts Border punch……I really like that border punch…..wish list!!  Then my fave part of the card…..the gorgeous Wisteria Wonder Ruffle Ribbon……this ribbon is soooo cool!!  I just love the ‘wrinkled’ look of the edges of it.

Here’s a close up of the ribbon and the border design.   LOVE IT!!!

Isn’t it just a beautiful card??!!  The Happy Birthday sentiment is from the Happiest Birthday Wishes two part stamp set.  I love this set and it’s got so many and varried birthday sentiment stamps…..very cool set.

I should have left my favorite card for the last one…..tis okay though because the next card is very, very cute too!!  Stay tuned…..more to come.

Huggss,

Yvonne  😉

I Spy With My Little Eye……

Standard

Hello blogging friends!!  Why is it I always seem to be blogging at midnight??  I keep telling myself that I’m going to get to bed early this time…..ya, it just never happens!!  I’m on a new mission in my craft room right now.  Finding a system to store all my acrylic stamps so I #1, know what I even have for stamps and #2, can find them when I want them.  I think I must have watched about a dozen You Tube videos tonight and I think I may have come up with a system that will work for me.  When (if) I get it all done I’ll share it with you…..it may just work for you to!

I decided I’d better get my I spy card done tonight before I miss yet another mission…..I may end up getting kicked off the team if I miss too many!  Last weeks clue led us to a candle and this weeks clue is looking like it’s leading us to an eyelet.  I decided I’d combine both last weeks challenge with this weeks challenge and that way I can say I completed both missions……right?!  I have a friend that asked me to make some birthday cards for her to use for all her nieces and nephews birthdays for this year.  I decided to make a little boy birthday card and I’ve had these birthday embellishments for a while now and have been trying to think of a way to use them.  It sort of came together tonight for me.

It’s was a very simple card to put together and didn’t take me that long.  I decided I wanted just an extra pop of color so I used my CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge and cut out a bright green scalloped rectangle.  I attached the four black eyelets to it and then adhered the birthday candle “happy birthday” embellishment.

I added some star dust stickles to the flames of the candles to give them some sparkle.  I also wanted a bit more dimension to the gift box so I attached a ribbon bow to the top of the box.  Easy peasy……kinda cute.  I hope she’ll like it!

So tomorrow night, I’m going to grab my sewing machine, some acetate, some page protectors, maybe some white cardstock and see if I can get my acrylic stamps organized…….stay tuned……this could get interesting……lol!!

Huggss,  Yvonne  :o)

Stampin’ Up! card making day

Standard

We been having a long stetch of unseasonally mild weather lately and yesterday it decided to go from rain to snow to cotton balls!!!  I’ve never seen snow come down like that in Saskatchewan before and I tell you, those flakes were HUGE!!  They were honestly the size of cotton balls!!  It was still very mild out so we”ve ended up with this wet icy mess now and it’s made driving and walking very interesting!  I went to my Stampin’ Up! cardmaking class last night and I tell you, I could have skated out of the house when we left.  There was a layer of ice on everything.

Anyway…..we made some gorgeous cards last night and I always have soooo much fun with these ladies.  I’ll share the cards we made with you cause they’re so fun!

I love the colors on this card!!  The card base is made with Very Vanilla.  We started the layers of the card front with a piece of More Mustard and a strip of Spice Cake designer paper.  We added a square of Chocolate Chip that had been embossed with the Lattice Square embossing folder.  I love the versatility of that  folder……had to order one for myself!!  The beautiful blue Pool Party cardstock piece was layered over the embossed square and then we got to play with the ruffled ribbon.  A strip of the 3/8″ Pool Party ruffled ribbon was wrapped around the layers.  I really like the texture of this ribbon. The sentiment, from the Happiest Birthday Wishes set was stamped onto Very Vanilla in Chocolate Chip and attached to another piece of Chocolate Chip.  This was attached to the card with Dimentionals to give it some depth.  I love this Birthday stamp.  I decided to color in the ‘i’ of Birthday with the Pool Party marker to tie the sentiment into the color palet of the card.  I love all the layers on this card and we had allot of fun putting it together.  We decided as a group to make two of each card this year and so some of us took our piece of the Spice Cake designer paper and turned it around for a bit of a different look…..

I can’t decide which one I like better……hmmmm
