Hello to my little blogging family. I have a very cool post for you today! I made a very cute little padfolio using my September kit from Scrapn’ With Flair. I contains papers from Graphic 45 A Ladies Diary and is gorgeous!!! This padfolio was made following a YouTube video made by a wonderful lady by the name of Shannon Green. You have to go and check out her video’s…..she makes the most amazing journals and has some of the best tips and tricks!! Here’s a link to part one of the video for this padfolio: Shannon Green. You can find part two in her video listing. Check it out!!
The pen slides through a little slot and this is what keeps the book closed! Check out the I Am Roses roses that came with the kit along with the skeleton leaf (except for the gardenia which was included in the July kit). And that wide eyelet lace along the bottom…..OMGoodness!!! It is simply beautiful and also comes in the kit. You’ll have to check out the YouTube video to see how I altered the pen to match the padfolio…..very cool.
Check out the two pockets on this page…..the one at the bottom and the triangle at the top is also a pocket!! The sticker is from the kit along with the little I Am Roses cherry blossoms. The sting of half-back pearls and the lace on the bottom pocket are from my own stash. I included a piece of cardstock (8.5 x 11 folder in half) as one of the inside pages!
On this page I added the file tab from the sticker sheet included in the kit. There is another pocket on the bottom of this page that’s been trimmed with lace from my stash along with the last of my half-back pearls from my July kit!
This page has a diagonal pocket on it. You can also see another file tab attached to this page. The lace is again from my stash and I included one more of my I Am Roses cherry blossoms to this page. You can also see another piece of my cardstock from my stash as a page insert in the second section of the padfolio.
Here’s the last page of the folio. It includes a pocket that has room to fit a note pad in it! I also attached one of the chipboard diecuts included in the kit that has a piece of lace tied to it from my own stash. There is also another strip of lace from my own stash along the top of this pocket.
So, there you have it! My completed padfolio.
Here’s my YouTube video of the whole project here:
I’m off to continue with the cleaning/organizing/purging of my craftroom where I’m trying to figure out why on earth I’ve kept and accumulated soooo much stuff!!! As always, I love to hear what you think……till next time!!
Hey there my blogging family! I was at our cabin for a few days last week and decided it was time to make some cards again…..I had a blast!! One of these days I’ll figure out how to do the delayed blog post thingy so a new post comes up every day or so……but ya, that’s not going to happen today, so I’ll just put them all into one post…..lol. The paper and most of the embellishments used on these cards were all purchased from Leanne’s store called Scrapn’ With Flair…..check it out….she has great prices!!
Have I mentioned how much I love my I Am Roses roses??? I really like how this card turned out and love the shabbiness of it (is that even a word?? lol). I used papers from the BoBunny Country Garden line and the Weathered design. I love this paper line and had such a hard time cutting into it!!! It’s so crazy, but I feel like I have this hoarding vault full of all my favorite stuff and I never want to use it…..soooo silly!!. I used a strip off both sides of the paper for this card and covered the seam with a piece of lace I found at our local Thrift Store…….I LOVE that store!! I’ve got so much stuff from there for just a few dollars, it’s crazy!!. I distressed the edges with my Tim Holtz distress tool and then inked the edges with my Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Weathered Wood…..one of my favorite inks. I attached a butterfly from a package from Close To My Heart and then grabbed my Gesso and randomly applied some to give the card an old weathered look. It doesn’t show in the picture, but I applied some of my Close To My Heart Liquid Glass to the two colored butterflies on the paper……I really love how that stuff just adds to the dimension on a card!
So…….how ’bout this one…..very mixed media…..I really like it. It’s not for everyone, but I’m really having fun with the whole mixed media world lately. For this card I started with a Kraft cardstock base and then layered on paper from the BoBunny Timepiece line and the Country Garden line. I tore the layers and then distressed the edges with my fingernail and inked them with my Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Vintage Photo…..another one of my go-to favorites! I used my Stampin’ Up! Scallop Trim Border punch, some burlap pieces and some jute twine. The butterfly is from the 12 x 12 Chipboard add-on to the BoBunny Country Garden line and it has a bunch of very cute elements to be used! I took my texture paste and randomly smeared it over the card and burlap and then added a bit of white Gesso to the top of it to give it more of a white look. Once I was all done with the card I grabbed my Tsukineko Goosebumps Clear Texture Spray and gave the whole front of the card a spritz with it……it leaves a very cool raised texture to the card front once dry. Along the left side of the card there is also half a doily pasted on that’s been spritzed with some of my Lindy’s Stamp Gang Flat Fabios (sooooo love these spritz’s!!!) in Caribbean Blue, Luscious Lime and Mango Mania.
This is more of a traditional card I made for the Alphabet Challenge on SCS. The letter for this week was C. I used the BoBunny Timepiece paper and then took my stamps from a new set made by “darkroom door” called Tick Tock. I stamped all three clocks onto cardstock using my Rich Cocoa Memento Ink, distressed the edges with my Tim Holtz distress tool and inking the edges with my Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Vintage Photo. I also inked the entire edge of the card base with the Vintage Photo as well. I added some of my Close To My Heart Liquid Glass to the edges of two of the clocks and to the swirls on the card front. The sentiment is also from the same stamp set and the silver butterfly was from my stash as were the brown flat-back pearls.
This is the last card I made…..
The butterflies were stamped onto a piece of paper towel and then spritzed with my Lindy’s Stamp Gang Flat Fabios in Caribbean Blue, Luscious Lime and Mango Mania. I also took the other half of the doily I’d already spritzed and used it on the side of this card. I added some lace that I died using the spritz’s and a lace bow. I took my texture past and smeared quite a bit of it on the front of the card and then spritzed it as well. I added some stickles to the wings of the butterflies and then traced around them with my white pen to make them pop. I distressed the edges of the card with my Distress Tool and then inked them with some Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Broken China. I added three I Am Roses roses to the front. These three roses were already inked with the black on the edges of the petals, so I took my spritz’s in the Caribbean Blue and the Mango Mania and gave them a couple of sprays to tie them into the card better.
That’s it for my very long post…….if you’ve stuck around this far, thank you!!! As always I love to read your comments/feedback. I’m off the see what else strikes my fancy……till next time!
Hello to my blogging family! We’re out at the cabin this week……I love fall at the lake!! The colors are so beautiful. As usual I packed up some crafting supplies and decided to work on one of my Tim Holtz Composition Boxes I have. I had sooooo much fun putting this together……although, I think I had just as much fun looking for things to put into it! I even did a You Tube video on it……so I won’t put a pile of pics into this post. Here’s what I came up with!
Soooo…….what do you think??!! Check out my You Tube video on it to get more details and close ups of each of the boxes. It really was alot of fun to put together. Here’s a link to my You Tube on this baby……
So, as always I want to tell you how much I truly appreciate your visit to my blog. Thank you and please feel free to leave a comment! I’m off……chao for now!
Hey there my little blog family!! I’m experiencing a lesson in total frustration right now as this is the second time I’m typing and uploading this post. I had it all done……yup…..allll done and poof!!! It disappeared……ugh!!!! Soooo, here I go again. 🙂
A couple of weeks ago I saw a post on one of the blogs I follow called “florence and freddie” and Florence is so incredibly talented!! You need to check out her blog: florence and freddie She had these wonderful altered mouse traps on her blog and there’s a link to a group called Out of a Hat Creations you have to check out too…..a very talented group. I fell in love with their mouse trap creations and had to try one for myself! I even did a YouTube tutorial as I made it so you’d see how I put it together. I did however add the little cluster of flowers to the upper half after I was done videoing…..it just needed something more than just the key after I had it all done. This was my first actual tutorial YouTube and I realized as I watched the playback that I say ummm alot!!!
I pulled out my JUNE KIT from Scrapn’ With Flair . Leanne still has a couple of kits left so run on over and check it out and grab one before they’re gone!!…..it’s a fabulous kit with a lot of yummy goodness in it. Check this little cutie out!!
So?? What do you think?!! Did you catch my warped sense of humor…..my little parody on the nursery rhyme ‘Hickory, Dickory, Dock……the mouse ran up the clock’? Ya I know…..keep my day job…..lol. But I’ll bet you giggled……just sayin’. ;
Here’s a close up of those oh so cute little clocks and those rockin I Am Roses roses……oh! how I love those roses!!!
Here’s a link to the YouTube video I did on it…..
I also did up a couple of cards using the papers from this kit. I just love the grungy look of them!
Is that black lace not just to die for?! It’s included in the kit! Loving the lace paper too……it’s pop dotted off the front panel to add some depth to the card. The glittery swirl is from my stash as are the black bling accents in the corners. The little metal ‘Love’ embellishment is also from my stash and I came across it when I was going through some old packages of embellishments. It was screaming to be used!
Now how about this black lace?? It’s not included in the kit but I did purchase it from Leanne’s store……soooooooo love it!!. The bird sticker is included in the kit and the swirl bling is from my stash. I really like the pop of red on the bottom of the card and it really makes the lace stand out.
So, my friends, that’s it for this post! Thank you so much for popping in to take a peek…..I do truly appreciate all of you!! I love to hear your thougths…..don’t be shy. 😉
Until next time……
Hey my little blogging family…..two posts in one day??!! Holy cow! This was such a fun project I put together this evening. I dug into my September kit from Scrapn’ With Flair and had me a great ole time….lol. I love this kit so much I’m having a hard time cutting into the paper to use it!!! I just want to hoard it and drool over it and touch it……man I hate it when I do that to the papers I love…..but man oh man it’s hard to use them!
One of the girls I work with won a little 5×7 hardcover kraft notebook at a fun ladies golf night a couple of weeks ago. It was a Horizon’s Fertilizer notebook and I took one look at its yummy kraft cover and instantly wanted to get my grubby little fingers on it! Even the pen was covered in kraft paper. It was seriously screaming at me to alter it!!!!! I asked her if I could steal it from her and make it better…..well tonight I did just that! I even covered the pen….lol. Check this out ladies…….I just love it!
I used my Mod Podge to adhere all the elements to the front of the notebook. I sanded the edges of the cover to even out the paper and make a seamless edge to the paper and the notebook cover. I then inked the edges with my Tim Holtz Vintage Photo ink to blend in the white edges of the paper. I attached the double layer lace from my stash to the edge of the cover. The title was made using a piece of the paper and some of the alpha stickers included in the kit. It was distressed using my Tim Holtz distress tool and then inked with the Vintage Photo ink again. The wonderful Victorian woman image was cut from one of the 8×8 papers, matted onto one of the pieces of paper from the collection on foam pop dots. All the edges were distressed using my distress tool and inked with my Vintage Photo ink. Did you check out that pen?? Pretty cool, isn’t it?!! I Mod Podged a piece of the patterned paper onto it…..I couldn’t leave it a boring kraft color!!!
The little trinkets were attached to a piece of chain with some jump rings. I’ve had these charms in my stash for a while now and they just needed to be used and find a new home! I thought they added a nice little addition to the feel of the notebook and the papers.
Before I started to work on this notebook I had full intentions on taking a picture of it so I could do the whole ‘before and after’ shots……..ya, totally forgot to do that. Oh well, you’ll just have to use your imaginations!! 😉
As always I love to hear from you and what you think. Thanks so much once again for stopping by and taking a peek at my latest project. I do soooo appreciate it! ❤ Until next time……
Hello my little blogging family! I have another YouTube video to share with you using my July kit from Scrapn’ With Flair. It’s full of fantastic paper and all sorts of goodies from Basic Grey’s Plumeria line. I love the color pallette of this kit and it’s been so much fun to play with! Getting this YouTube to download was a lesson in frustration once again…..lol. I can honestly say though, that I think I may just have it all figured out now……maybe…..
So, check out my video and let me know what you think!
Thanks for stopping by once again…..you know I love to hear from you……
Having a blast with the July kit!!!
Hey there blog land friends!! I’ve been having so much fun with the July Basic Grey kit with the Plumeria line from Scrapn’ With Flair on-line store. LOVE the colors!! I’ve been playing and made a few cards I want to show you.
So, one thing you should know about me…..I have a really hard time with Clean & Simple cards. I like the simplicity of this card…..and each time I look at it I want to just grab it and start adding stuff!! I’m really loving the lace in this kit……but then again, I am a bit of a lace junkie. That butterfly is so stinkin’ cute and is one of the stickers in the kit. I stuck it down onto a piece of cardstock so I could pop dot it up and bend the wings up a little to give it some dimension. I soooo want to run some Distress Ink over the edges of this card!!! Hmmmmm…..
This card was made using some scraps of the paper I used for my altered box from the same July kit. I added a half a doily from my stash to the one edge and inked it in the Bundled Sage and Milled Lavendar Distress inks. And take a look-see at that flower spray!! Leanne has an amazing assortment of I Am Roses roses in the store and these things are my new favorite embellishment to use! The scallopped frame and pearls were also from my own stash. I love that little sentiment stamp I picked up in the $1.00 bin at Michaels some time ago…..I use that one quite a bit. I think my flower spray needs a nice seam binding double bow tied onto it with perhaps a button…….lol. You know ladies, am I the only one that looks at her creations after we’re done them, upload them on our computers and want to add or fix things??? lol. I drive myself nuts doing that all the time…..geesh!!!
This is my favorite card so far. I inked the front of the card with some Vintage Photo and Broken China Distress Ink and then stamped my new background stamp onto the front of it. I love anything with birds and this stamp was on sale at Michael’s and is by Hero Arts – Musical Collage. I stamped it out a second time and cut the bird out, inked it and pop-dotted it up off the page. The teal and brown border is a strip of paper from the kit’s scraps that had, what looked like a real cool border, on it. I attached a narrow piece of lace from my stash under it and really like the look. I took my distressing tool to the edge of the border scrap and then inked the edges in Walnut Stain Distress Ink. And there are more of those awesome little I Am Roses roses I had in my stash that I had to use. The brighter orange one came that color and the other two I spritzed with some of my Lindy’s Stamp Gang sprays to get a slightly different color than what they were. Have I told you just how much I love my Lindy’s products?? lol. I used Bluebeard Blue Violet Moon Shadow Mist on the bigger one ( it was a sort of Taupe brown color before I spritzed it and the other smaller orange one was also orange…..until it met up with the same mister. The sentiment is stamped on a die cut from Spellbinders Shapeabilities Fancy Tags set and inked with some Vintage Photo and pop-dotted on. The chocolate brown half back pearls were also from my stash.
So, there you have my cards I put together. I hope they give you some inspiration to grab some paper and get to creating something yourself!! I’d love to see what you all make with the kit……we learn soooo much from each other when we share what we create. If you haven’t purchased the July kit yet, there are still a few left so get on over to the store and buy it…..you truly won’t be dissappointed once you get your hands on it and can touch all the goodies and start playing!!!
Chao till next time!! I have a couple of other projects in my head I want to work on next week……this weekend is to the lake to relax at the cabin!!
Hello there my blogging friends. Tonight I have another art journalling page I did for a challenge. The challenge was to create a project using your word for the year…..a quote to go with that word and your favorite colors. This was a fun page to do and I’m finding that I think far too much when I create. Here is the finished product……check it out and see what you think!
So, here it is. Almost all of the supplies I used I got from my favorite place – Scrapn’ With Flair . I used a lot of my favorite sprays…..my Lindy’s Stamp Gang sprays and these sprays and spritz’s are soooo much fun to use! And I love the shimmer they leave on anything you spray them on. I also used some of my Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Broken China, Salty Ocean, Peeled Paint, Dried Marigold and some of my Distress Stains in Broken China and Peeled Paint for the paint splatters. I used my Picket Fence Stain for the white droplets. The flowers are also from Scrapn’ With Flair and I’m in love with these things!! The orange one came that color and the two blue ones were white and I spritzed them with one of my mini misters I got from the store with some water and Salty Ocean re-inker mixed in. Loved the results!! The string of flat-backed pearls and the green lace (which was white and colored with the Peeled Paint Distress Stain) and my title of “courage”, which are chip board letters that I spritzed, are also from the July SWF kit(s) from the store…..check it out here…..it’s a FANTASTIC kit and well worth it!! My Tim Holtz bird cage die cut is one of my fav’s and was also from the store. (How can you tell I love that place!! LOL). I used my Broken China and Black Soot Distress Markers on the page as well. The more I use these things the more I’m liking them. I just need to find me some water-color paper.
So, here’s a close up of the bird cage……really like this die. I cut it out in Kraft paper, inked the bird’s body in Broken China and the wing in Peeled Paint. The cage was spritzed with my Lindy’s Stamp Gang in my Burnished Brass Moon Shadow Mist. I love the shimmer it has!
Check out these daisy’s!! Aren’t they just soooo stinkin’ cute!! And I love the Salty Ocean blue. It’s one of the spring collection inks……in love!!
I’m off to upload this and then add the picture to the challenge thread on FB. I have a blog post on the Scrapn’ With Flair blog section. I’ll be debuing the August kit and ladies……you will NOT want to miss this!! This kit is amazing and I’m sooooo looking forward to playing with it for the month of August!!
I’m off…..will be back in a bit to post some cards I also made using the July kit……chao for now!
So I have a couple of ladies on my Scrap ‘n With Flair design team that are amazing as doing up Art Journalling pages with multi-mediums. This little niche has intrigued me for some time now and I’ve been racking their brains and asking a hundred questions to find out what I’d need to try something like this myself. I found out I already had a lot of the tools on hand already that are used in art journalling, so it was just a matter of purchasing a few bottles of Acrylic Paint and I was off to try my hand at a page. When I was at the local Dollar Store picking up the paint, some art brushes, etc., they had these 8.5 x 11 pads of sheets of canvas paper. I bought it and that’s what I used for my page today. I’m still not sure about it but thought, what the heck. This whole crafting and blogging is supposed to be a growth experience so, let me just step outside of my comfort zone for a few minutes and I’ll show you what I did.
There is lots of texture and layers on this page and I tried to get some pics of the main things to show you. Here’s what the whole page looks like…
I started out with a 8.5 x 11 sheet of canvas I’d purchased in a pad from the local Dollar Store. I attached random pages from an old book, a piece of music sheet DP that I crumpled before I attached it down onto the front of the canvas with my Claudia Hellmuth Multi-Medium Matte. Once that was dry I put a coat of my Tim Holtz Distress Stain in Picket Fence all over the front of the canvas. Once that was dry I added a second coat to give it a bit more coverage. Then I started to attach my random pieces onto the front. A few pieces from my favorite paper napkins, another scrap of music sheet paper, a couple of cut outs from making my Fab Scraps chipboard album, some chipboard hearts, a couple of pieces of lace and some flowers made out of paper towel I’d misted using my Lindy’s spray mists. I took my Ultimate Grunge background stamp set from Tim Holtz and stamped random images onto the front with my Rusty Hinge, Dried Marigold, Walnut Stain and Black Soot Distress Inks. I also took my Dried Marigold and added some strokes of ink directly from the stamp pad. Added some paint strokes of red acrylic paint and then toned it down a bit with some of my Picked Fence Distress Stain. Took my Lindy’s Spray Mist in the incandescent Copper and misted the front and then just gave it a couple of short little spritzed to add some bigger blobs of mist. At the end I took my white acrylic paint and some paper towel and a piece of plastic and randomly dabbed some white onto the front as well.
I know this craft form is not for everyone but as one of the Design Team said, it’s strangely freeing to just slap things onto a page and see what slowly starts to develope…..lol. Here are some more random close up’s of some of the elements. I have lots to learn and decided I may as well take you all along for the ride!!
Not sure what my next project will be……I really need to go check in with my friends on SCS before they forget who I am and see what’s been happening on the two challenges I use to participate in…..I wonder if I’ll have to re-introduce myself??!! :o)
Hello my fellow crafting blog friends. If you ever want a lesson in frustration try and do a video recording to post on You Tube…..lol. Holy cow!! Some things I learned…….make sure camera is charged…..grrrrr. Turn off phone so it won’t ring when you’re almost done recording. Finish recording and then realized I’d recorded it upside down for the viewers…….that one was a real winner. Go to upload it to You Tube and spend two days trying to figure out why it won’t download. Try and sign into You Tube using the wrong sign in account name…..brilliant!! FINALLY realize the reason it won’t download is because the file is too big as I recorded it in HD……doh!!
As part of my duties on the Scrap ‘n With Flair design team, I have to do one You Tube video a month. Well, I finally have the first one under my belt. Definitely some things I’ll do differently next time…….learned allot…..still have lots to learn about it and will improve with each one…..hopefully!! So, check it out and let me know what you think!! Here’s the link:
Will I ever be a You Tube star…..probably not but I did kinda have fun doing it and am actually looking forward to doing another one. As always, I love to hear from you. Thanks so much for stopping by!
