A little Paris?

A little Paris?

This is now the second time I’m doing this post from the start……ugh.  I had it all completed and closed it down and it didn’t save…..:::insert sad emoticon here:::  lol.  So, here we go again!!

I’ve been really enjoying working in my recycled encyclopedia art journal lately.  I don’t know if it’s the size of the pages or the fact that I LOVE the book, but it’s my go to journal lately.  I’d received my new set of Lindy’s Stamp Gang sprays yesterday and mixed them up at noon so I could come home and just start playing with them.  I received the Under The Boardwalk Flat Fabios that Limor Webber created…..and I have to say they’ve been added to my favorite sets….right along with her Tres Chic and Industrial Chic sets.  That woman knows how to create a pretty amazing color palette.

I started out on these pages by putting a light layer of Gesso over both pages.  Once that was dry I took my Orange Creamsicle, Merry-Go-Round Green and Tilt-A-Wheel Teal and sprayed them randomly on both pages and heat set them.  I then took a sort of ruler Stampin’ Up! background stamp I’ve had in my stash for a while and stamped it randomly on both pages using my Faber Castell Design Memory Craft Stampers PITT Big Brush Pen in Cold Grey III.  This is my new favorite big brush pen…..LOVE the oh so subtle image it leaves.

I decided to cut out the two main images from my paper napkin and adhered the Eiffel Tower and the stone building to the pages using my Faber Castell Design Memory Craft Gel Medium and heat set it as well.  I then took my new Prima “Bubbles” Stencil  and my Faber Castell Design Memory Craft Whipped Spackle and applied it to random areas using my favorite tool, the Catalyst Shaper Tool “01 Mini”.  I gave that a heat set and then did some shading with my Stabillo All charcoal pencil around some of the bubbles.

I also took the charcoal pencil to my two napkin images as I thought they were a little too subtle on the page and I really like the result I achieved!

I took my Dina Wakley Media “Handwritten Quotes” stamp set and chose two quotes to stamp, one on each page.  I used my Faber Castell Design Memory Craft Stampers PITT Big Brush pen in black as my ink for the stamps.  I love the vivid black this India Ink pen gives you.  I then used the Cold Grey one again to distress the edges of both pages and I’m done!!  I’m really happy with the finished product and really like this double page spread.IMG_3795

I love the the soft colors and the depth the charcoal pencil adds to the page.  I’m thinking I’m going to take the page on the right a re-create it on a canvas.

A list of the products I used and links back to Limor’s store are at the end of this blog post.  Thanks for staying with me!

52 playing card ATC workout!

52 playing card ATC workout!

I AM DONE!!!!!  I finished up the last of the cards for my deck of 52 playing card ATC swap I’m in.  They don’t have to be done until November 30th, but they were burning a hole in my brain as I looked at the last of the stack and decided to just dig in and finish them and get them off my desk.  I’m so looking forward to the swap and can’t wait to get my completed deck of everyone else’s art returned.  Such fun!  I’m not going to go into details of how each card was completed….far too many words to type and wayyyy too long of a post….lol.  For these ones I used a few different mediums for the backgrounds like, Gelato’s, Lindy’s Stamp Gang sprays and acrylic inks.  I finished the tops of the cards with everything from book paper, stickers, Signo White Gel pen, my Faber Castell PITT artist pen big brush in black and white, more Gelato’s, stamps, images cut from Designer paper, some new Izinks I received in a “Pay It Forward” swap from Debbie D (LOVE them by the way 😉  ), irRESSISTible textured sprays in black and white and some Liquitex Acrylic fluid ink in Carbon Black.  There was probably more supplies, but don’t remember right now.  All of the supplies I purchased or are available at Limor Webber’s store which you can link to here.

Here’s a picture of all the cards spread out:

And here’s some close ups of them:

There you have them!!!  Had fun making them but can honestly say I don’t think I was to look at another deck of cards again for a while…..lol.

Thanks so much for dropping in.  I love reading comments, so please take some time to say hello and if you don’t already follow me, I’d love to add you to the family!  🙂

The next 10……well, plus one

The next 10……well, plus one

As you may or may not know, I’m in a 52 card deck swap and we have a schedule where we do 10 cards every so often and send them onto the host.  I worked on my next set this weekend…..couldn’t count apparently as I have 11 cards done, which is no biggy as they all have to get to her sooner or later anyway…lol.  For this set I took some advice from one of the other members and did something different on each card with varied ephemera I had on hand.  The one thing that was constant on each card was the use of a paper napkin for the background to add some color and texture to the card right off the bat.  Here’s my take on this set of cards.  Not much to explain…..here they are!

20 or so more cards to go and I’ll be done!!

Thanks for stopping in!!  Off to do some relaxing at the cabin.  😉

Mini pieces of art…

Mini pieces of art…

I haven’t had the desire to work on my bigger Art Journal books the past few weeks so I’ve been spending my time doing Artist Trading Cards (ATC’S).  I’ve been trading some of them all over the US and overseas.  I’ve had fun doing them and they provide an avenue to express myself no matter how small.  I had Kyle’s two little one’s here last night and today so I brought out Owen’s ‘crafting stuff’ and while he ‘cwafted’ I worked on a few atc’s.

I played with my new water-color tubes of paint to see how they worked.  I like them much better than the cake ones I have right now.  For one of the atc’s I used the heart printed tissue paper one of the ladies I’d swapped with had my atc’s she’d made for me wrapped up in.  On another, one of the the ladies I received the atc’s from, made her own envelope out of a brown paper grocery bag, so I used a portion of that as my background for a different atc.

Here’s what I came up with:

This is the one I used my new Pentel Arts watercolor tubes and quite like it.  I also took a couple of my Prima small stamps, some rub on’s that I’ve had forever and made a Spring card.  Seeing how we’re not getting our Spring as far as the weather goes (another 5 inches of heavy wet snow yesterday and last evening), I’m going to enjoy it through my art….lol

These next two are the ones I made using the supplies from other atc’s I’ve received in the mail.  🙂

And then there’s the last one.  I love the look of the corrugated cardboard as a base and decided to finally give it a try.  I applied some bright green and blue acrylic paint in random spots and then took some bright green fiber paper and tore pieces to adhere randomly to the card.  I also have this sheet of quotes, which are awesome, that I received from a blog post I was reading.  I’ve use a few of them already and today I added two more to the list of ones used.  They are some of my favorite quotes!

So there you have it.  A few more mini canvas pieces completed

I’m off to do some more work on my travel atc making kit I’m putting together.

…..more atc’s

Hello, my name is Yvonne and I’m an ATC addict.  Holy cow….I’m having a blast making these little pieces of art!!!  I REALLY should be in bed and here I am playing with 2.5″ x 3.5″ pieces of cardstock….LOL.  These ones were made using a background I’d created for one of my pages for the Facebook group called Journal 52 and I had an extra one…..sooooo, it ONLY made sense to cut it up into little rectangles…..right?!  These 4 were so quick and easy to put together.  I got my inspiration from one of my pins and a tutorial Nicole had on her blog……check it out here.  I took some dictionary pages and spritzed them with a couple of my Lindy’s Stamp Gang sprays and then loosely drew out the 4 hearts.  I cut them out and went to town playing with them.  Nicole also had a sheet of quotes she had available to download, so I did that and picked out 4 I liked and cut them out of the sheet to adhere to my atc’s.  These were fun and quick to put together.

I love the look of the sort of water color effect of the backgrounds.  The quotes are some of my favorites.  Here’s some individual pictures of each of the cards….

Okay, now I’m going to bed.  I may sleep till noon tomorrow….lol.

Thanks for sticking with me on this atc marathon I dragged you along on…..have a great day!

Vintage ATC frenzy!!!

Can you say obsessed with ATC’s??!!!!  I’m having so freakin much fun making these.  I had a set of 5 vintage Chatelaine images on my desk that have been starring at me for a while now.  I was going to try and incorporate them into a card…..but ATC’s they became!!!  I pulled out all my vintagey type ephemera and lace I had and went to town this evening.  5 ATC’s later I have them all used up.

Here they are!

Maybe I should have started on ATC’s to get me comfortable with these mini pieces of art and then dive into the bigger mixed media….lol.  Here’s some closer pics of each one…

Well, now you know my new obsession…..perhaps an addiction…..having allot of fun with the anyway.  Thanks for stopping by.  I love to read your comments.
