You Tube video

Standard

Hello my fellow crafting blog friends.  If you ever want a lesson in frustration try and do a video recording to post on You Tube…..lol.  Holy cow!!  Some things I learned…….make sure camera is charged…..grrrrr.  Turn off phone so it won’t ring when you’re almost done recording.  Finish recording and then realized I’d recorded  it upside down for the viewers…….that one was a real winner.  Go to upload it to You Tube and spend two days trying to figure out why it won’t download.  Try and sign into You Tube using the wrong sign in account name…..brilliant!!  FINALLY realize the reason it won’t download is because the file is too big as I recorded it in HD……doh!!

As part of my duties on the Scrap ‘n With Flair design team, I have to do one You Tube video a month.  Well, I finally have the first one under my belt.  Definitely some things I’ll do differently next time…….learned allot…..still have lots to learn about it and will improve with each one…..hopefully!!  So, check it out and let me know what you think!!  Here’s the link:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wna0Rl38dTM

Will I ever be a You Tube star…..probably not but I did kinda have fun doing it and am actually looking forward to doing another one.  As always, I love to hear from you.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

My first project to show you using the amazing June kit!!!

Standard

Hello to my blogging friends!!  I’m sorry I’ve been MIA for most of this month…..I came down with a virus that just knocked the crap out of me.  Still not 100% but better than I was!

Have I got a scrapbooking/cardmaking kit to show you!!!  The on-line store that I design for, Scrap ‘n With Flair , has released their June kit and I gotta tell you……it’s fantastic!!  It full of beautiful paper, ribbon, bling, embellishments, flowers, die cuts…..holy cow!!  Here’s a little peek at what the kit includes:

The Kit includes the following:

18 – 12 x 12 double sided papers (which are fantastic…..creams, blacks, a beautiful deep red.  If you like images of bird cages and lace, these are some of the patterns…..there are lots more and they’re all gorgeous)

8 – 8 x 8 double sided papers (these match the larger 12 x 12 papers)

24 inches of lace

12 inches of black flat back bling

1 pkg of Fab Scrap’s Stickers

1 Fab Scrap’s chipboard album

1 pkg of various bling and metal embellishments

1 pkg of variuos I Am Roses flowers (these flowers are beautiful…..if you’ve never seen an I Am Roses flower, you need to!!)

Various die cuts including rosettes.

The flowers aren’t shown in the picture above so here’s a pic of just the package of flowers that’s included…..

These flowers are a mulberry paper flower and can be inked, misted, spritzed, painted….they’re soooo very nice!!

This kit is only $35.00 and is jam packed with some oh so cool goodies!!

Okay, so I’ve been playing with this kit a little bit and have a few projects done and some started.  Here’s a card I made using some of the papers from the kit, a rosette and a couple of the die cuts and black half back bling.  Check it out!

Check out that rosette!!  You get a few of these beauties with different edges and sizes, all ready die cut out for you and perferated, so all you have to do is fold them back and forth, glue the ends together, flatten it out (which is sometimes easier said than done…..lol) and glue it down to a small piece of paper.  I inked the outside edges of this one with my Tim Holtz Ranger Distress ink in Black Soot and adheared it to the top corner of my card.  I inked the top of the flower as well to add some definition to the folds of the rosette.  I topped it off with a black half back pearl (included in the kit) and tadaaaa!!!

The little die cut birds also come in the kit.  They come as a set of 4 and are all attached in a row.  I decided to cut two of them out and use them on this card.  I inked the edges of them with the Black Soot ink and added a small black half back pearl from the kit.  There are also a couple of  ‘stems’ included that I also inked in the Black Soot and adheared to the card to make it look like the stem of the rosette with a branch for the little bird to sit on.  Check out the string of the bling!!  Yup, included in the kit….love it!

So here’s the whole card…….

The Happy Birthday sentiment is a stamp I used from my stash.  I stamped it using the Black Soot ink and then inked the edges of it and pop-dotted it onto the card front.  The top corner looked a little bare so I cut three of the black half back bling off the string and arranged it so it would fit into the corner.  I also pop-dotted the second bird up over the sentiment.

So, there you have it.  My first post as an official Design Team member for Scrap ‘n With Flair.  I hope you like it and as always, I love to read your comments.  I’m off to do some more work on my other little project I’m working on with this kit……till next time!

Huggss,

Yvonne  😉

Mother’s Day…..again!!!

Standard

Hello once again!!  Here is another Mother’s Day card I made…..this one was snatched up pretty quickly at work when I took it there to show the girls…..it never made it past the first girl!!  I REALLY love this die cut from Memory Box called Sefafina Heart …. just check it out!!

Isn’t it just so delicate and lovely?!!!  I added some bling to it just for those special mother’s.  My card base is some DP I’ve had in my stash for so long and I have no idea where or when I picked it up.  I think it makes for a very nice contrast for a background.

My Mother’s Day sentiment is from my Close To My Heart sentiment set called “A Little Everything” which you’ve seen me use before.  That love lacey border is the Martha Stewart Elegant Lace punch.

So, there it is…..very pink…..very feminine.  I actually did another one but went with a brown and orange sort of combo…..that one was grabbed right away too and I had intended to add bling to it too…..didn’t get a chance!!  lol.  Here’s what that one looked like……same layout (only reversed), just different color combo and I used my Stampin’ Up! Scallop Trim Border punch:

Now, what card to post next??  Are you getting tired of your emails filling up yet if you’re a subscriber…..lol.

Huggss,

Yvonne  😉

Love, lavender, lace, layers…..lots of bling!!

Standard

Look out….this is post #2.  Don’t worry, I don’t think I have any more to post tonight.  So, this card is actually for two different challenges that I kinda combined on SCS. For the Alphabet Challenge that the lovely Diane is hosting.  She’s doing a super job and is making each week’s letter sooo much fun by adding all sorts of mini challenges within each weeks letter challenge.  The other challenge is the Mix It Up  challenge that the multi-talented Lauren from the land down under is hosting this week.  Check out her blog for some amazing inspiration and wonderful techniques.  You won’t be disappointed you wandered over.

Speaking of the wonderfully talented Lauren, check out that hat pin on my card.  Yup, you may have guessed, I do believe that little creation came from none other than Lauren from a hat pin swap I was in last summer.  I’ve been hoarding these little treasures since I received them…..I have a whole pin cushion full of beautiful hat pins from all over North America and of course Aussie land!  Anyway, on to the card.  That beautiful lavender flower is actually from our local Dollar Store where you can buy 6 or 8 of these little beauts in a package for $1.50!!!  Booya.  I inked the edges of it with some Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Dusty Concord and then added some Star Dust Stickles to the edges of the petals.  It’s just gorgeous in real life!

Look at the fancy shmancy edge on the top of the card!!  This was done using a template I got from Paper Wishes called Diamond Folds.  I really like the look of it. It’s just a series of cuts along the fold of the card and then these cuts are folded back onto each other…..the end result looks complicated, but it’s really very easy to do.

The completed card….the embossed piece was sponged around the edges with my Dusty Concord as was the piece with the sentiment.

At the Alphabet Challenge, Diane challenged up to:

Anything goes – I used the flower and hat pin, lots of bling and the layers.

Be wordy and use a word that starts with the letter ‘L’

Create with Lavender

Dare you to include a lovely accent of lace.

Embrace a new technique where I decided to finally use my Diamond Fold template

At the Mix It Up challenge being hosted by Lauren, her challenge to us was to sew on our card……well I decided to sew in two places.  Around the purple embossed piece of cardstock and around the sentiment.

K, I’m done now…..thanks once again.  Later ladies…..I love hearing from you!!

Huggss,

Yvonne

Wax Paper Resist

Standard

Hello blog friends!!  It’s been a while…..getting caught up once again.  I have a couple of cards to post for some challenges over in the Mix It Up thread over on SCS.  Hubby and I are up at our cabin for the weekend and enjoying the piece and quiet that seems to be up here that you can’t find at home…..why is that I wonder….lol.  So last weeks challenge on our Mix It Up thread was to create a background using only inks.  I chose to try the wax paper resist technique using one of my Tim Holtz Postmarks embossing folder.

I took a piece of wax paper, embossed it and placed it between two pieces of glossy cardstock.  I took my iron and put a piece of paper towel over the cardstock so I wouldn’t get any wax on my iron.  I pressed the embossed wax paper in order to transfer the waxed embossed pattern to the glossy cardstock.  Check out all the deets for this fun technique on the resource page on SCS right here, Wax Paper Resist.  I inked over the cardstock with my Tim Holtz Weathered Wood Distress Ink to bring out the image transfer from the wax paper.  How cool!  The sentiment was stamped in Tim Holtz Broken China Distress Ink and the edges were inked with the Peeled Paint.   My sentiment is from my Close To My Heart set called A Little Thanks.

My butterfly was a die cut my friend Lynn from SCS sent me quite a while back so I’m not sure which die set it’s from.  I inked it in Broken China and the Peeled Paint inks and adhered it with a glue dot over another die cut border from Lynn. The border die cut was white and I inked over it with my foam blending tool with the Weathered Wood Distress Ink.  I’ve been hoarding them for quite a while now and decided it was time to start using some of my treasures.  I love this border die cut and may have to find out which one it is…..it’s very nice.  I added some bling to the body of the butterfly and some for attena.  I don’t know if you can really see the subtle difference in the pattern on this picture, but because I ironed the embossed wax paper between two pieces of  glossy cardstock, both the positive and negative images transferred onto the sheets.  I cut each sheet into four and used two pieces from each sheet to attach to my card front.  Made for a very subtle design.  I think this shows a bit better on the full card view below!

So, there you have it…..add a bow, some bling and it’s a done deal!  Thanks so much for dropping by for a look see…..onto the next card!!

Huggss,

Yvonne  😉

Dream….

Standard

It’s funny how I know that I dream most nights as I sleep, but I rarely remember what those dreams are about once I wake up.  There’s probably someone out there that could interpret that for me……however…..it’s really not that important to me that I remember what I dream about!

Miss Lynn (FMcrafter) is hosting this weeks Mix It Up challenge and she challenged us to use glitter.  LOL……I was pretty sure I could handle this challenge as I’m adding the bling and/or glitter to allot of my cards.  For this card however, I was dying to try out a glitter embossing powder I’d received as a hostess gift from an Embossed Cardstock swap I’d hosted last fall.  I just love the look of this stuff against a black cardstock…..check it out!!

Check this out!!  The butterfly stamp is from one of my favorite sets from Close To My Heart called ‘Find Your Style’ and I’ve used this swirly butterfly alot!  That glitter embossing powder is by Stampendous and is called ‘Blue Tinsel’.  I tell you, it’s very stricking in real life.  I just had to add some extra bling…..the matchy matchy bow and the little Dream sentiment which is from my Close To My Heart ‘Live Inspired’ set.  It was stamped with a Versamark and then heat embossed in black.

That’s it for my challenge cards that I did up for this week…..I think I may post one more card and then call it a night.  Thank you so much for checking this out!

Huggsss,

Yvonne   😉

Hello Strangers…..Just for You!

Standard

Holy cow my long lost blog friends!!!  I tell you, life can sure send you a curve ball every once in a while.  I have a few projects to catch up on…..I’ll do a couple tonight and then finish them off tomorrow!  Our lovely Lisa (Ashdale) over on SCS has taken over the hostess job of our weekly I Spy Challenge.  As it was Kathy’s (muscrat) birthday last week, she had us all make Birthday cards for Kathy to send out to her.  I asked Kathy what her favorite color was and one of them was blue…..so off to make a blue card I went.

I love this stamp image.  It’s from my Close To My Heart ‘Find Your Style’ set.    I stamped it in Rich Cocoa Memento Ink and then painted over it with my Tim Holtz Distress Stain in Picket Fence to give it a muted and aged look.  I added the bow and inked it with the Memento ink as well.

I added a strip of bling from want 2 scrap along the right edge to add to the vintage feel of the card.  I die cut and then embossed the edge of the card with my new Stampin’ Up! Edgelets Adorning Accents die cut and the scalloped edge Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

Here’s a view of the whole card.  I stamped a journalling stamp twice on the background of the card in Tim Holtz Distress Ink ‘Peeled Paint”, added some half pearls and the sentiment is from one of my favorite sets which is made by Hot Off The The Press and their ‘Tiny Words & Imagews’ set.

Off to post the next card.  Thanks so much for stopping by, I appreciate it very much!!

Huggs,

Yvonne  😉
