I’ll be skimming under the wire with my day 4 post!!! Forgot to do it up last night and post date it…..ooppsss. So, I mentioned my Art Journal prompt cards my friend did in my last post and then naturally I had to make up a set as well! We were at our cabin a few weeks ago and I needed some inspiration to create a page. I dealt myself out 5 cards and then sat and looked at them…..oh boy. I dealt myself out some doozies, so I thought. Check them out!
Really?! I decided to take the leap and give the prompts a try.Have you ever tried to apply gel medium to a page with your fingers and then try and adhere a napkin to the page with those said gel filled fingers…..it make for some good comedy I”m sure….if it wasn’t me struggling!!! I also added a layer of a couple of magazine collage items and while everything was drying I proceeded to peel the multiple layers of gel medium from my fingers. I used my favorite stencil, my bricks and tinted the Faber Castel Whipped Spackle with some grey Gelato to add another layer of texture. Some light shading with my grey charcoal pencil, some highlights on the brick with a lighter grey Gelato to give the bricks a more dimensional look. Stamped my image onto cardstock, inked the edges and ta daaaa!!! A finished art journal prompt page. 🙂
Here it is!
I really like how this page turned out…..all in shades of grey.
That’s it for day four of the 90-days of blogging challenge. So far so good!!
As always, I thank you so very much for taking the time to stop by and love hearing from you while you’re hear. Feel free to follow me if you don’t already. And be sure to check out the other girls blogs who are playing along.
It’s challenge time over on the Mixing It Up Everyday Facebook group. My friend Sandee is the creator of this page and we do have allot of fun. I actually won the October challenge and won a gift certificate to Stampendous. I was pretty excited about that! This month’s challenge is to do a project around the theme of being thankful. I decided to take a bit of a different twist to the thankful theme…..I have some napkins I’ve been wanting to try on a page for some time and this just seemed to be the time…..and the quote just sort of fit in to this month’s theme…..well, at least in my mind it did. ;o)
I used my up cycled encyclopedia again for this double page journal page. I’m seriously loving this book. I started out by putting a light wash over the pages using my Lindy’s Stamp Gang Flat Shot from the Under the Boardwalk collection called Pop Rock Purple. I then put a light coat of the Faber Castell Design Memory Craft Gesso over as it’s a thinner Gesso and works very well for a wash look. I took my Faber Castell PITT artist big brush pen in Cold Grey III and one of my Stampers Anonymous background stamps from the Graph & Croc set and randomly stamped on both pages. I really like the subtle look the Cold Grey pen gives to the background stamps. I then took my napkin and adhered it to the pages using my Faber Castell Gel Medium.
Next I took my Faber Castell Whipped Spackle and my homemade brick stencil and my Tim Holtz Dot Fade stencil and applied it randomly to the page. I shaded the bricks in and around the napkin pieces with my Stabilo All pencil and blended it out.
Added my quote using my Signo white gel pen, some Faber Castell Gelato in black around the edges of the pages and done!
Thank you for the challenges Sandee and for keeping the group in order…..or trying to at least!
Thank you also for dropping in and I look forward to seeing you next time as well. Please feel free to leave me any comments. Enjoy your day!

I AM DONE!!!!! I finished up the last of the cards for my deck of 52 playing card ATC swap I’m in. They don’t have to be done until November 30th, but they were burning a hole in my brain as I looked at the last of the stack and decided to just dig in and finish them and get them off my desk. I’m so looking forward to the swap and can’t wait to get my completed deck of everyone else’s art returned. Such fun! I’m not going to go into details of how each card was completed….far too many words to type and wayyyy too long of a post….lol. For these ones I used a few different mediums for the backgrounds like, Gelato’s, Lindy’s Stamp Gang sprays and acrylic inks. I finished the tops of the cards with everything from book paper, stickers, Signo White Gel pen, my Faber Castell PITT artist pen big brush in black and white, more Gelato’s, stamps, images cut from Designer paper, some new Izinks I received in a “Pay It Forward” swap from Debbie D (LOVE them by the way 😉 ), irRESSISTible textured sprays in black and white and some Liquitex Acrylic fluid ink in Carbon Black. There was probably more supplies, but don’t remember right now. All of the supplies I purchased or are available at Limor Webber’s store which you can link to here.
Here’s a picture of all the cards spread out:
And here’s some close ups of them:
There you have them!!! Had fun making them but can honestly say I don’t think I was to look at another deck of cards again for a while…..lol.
Thanks so much for dropping in. I love reading comments, so please take some time to say hello and if you don’t already follow me, I’d love to add you to the family! 🙂
Hello my lovely peeps…..lol. I spent some time playing with my deck of playing cards and making another set of 10 ATC’s from them for a 52 card deck swap I’m in. I’d used a bunch of napkins for backgrounds on this set and had all these pieces of napkin sitting on my desk when I was done. Could I just throw them out…..NOOOO!!!!! I grabbed my small art journal and just started adhering them all over the page using my Golden Matte Medium to cover it and give it some yummy texture and color. Once I had it all covered I took my favorite modeling paste from Faber Castell called Whipped Spackle and my Crafter’s Workshop stencil called Mini Ledger and added more texture to the page. I have this little tool I use when I use my stencils and this thing is the bomb!!! It’s called the Catalyst Shaper Tool and that thing rocks! Here’s what it looked like when I was done.
Now what…..lol. I decided I wanted to isolate just certain areas of the page and took my Unibal Signo white pen and drew out some circles. I then took my Faber Castell Gelato in Black Licorice and colored in the entire background, blending it into all the background texture with my fingers and leaving the circles uncovered. I took my Liquitex Basics Acrylic paint in Titanium White and #2 Liquitex round paint brush and outlined each of the circles. I added a few extra all white circles in some of the black areas and ta daaa!!! Finito!
Here’s what it looks like now…..along with some close ups of that great texture.
There’s my version of ‘use what’s on your desk’…..lol. All of the supplies I used I purchased at Limor Webber’s store. She’s just added a BUNCH of new product and you honestly have to get on over to that link and check it out. She carries some pretty amazing products.
Thanks for spending some time with me. Until next time!
Dreaming of what I’d like to do one day……there are allot of things on my list. One of my biggest dreams is to get to a point where I could apply and be accepted to join a Design Team. I was on a Design Team for a local on-line scrapbooking supply store a few years ago and had a blast. To get onto some of the big name DT’s you have to have a blog following, an active YouTube channel with followers…..all things I dream of making happen again one day. I haven’t recorded a YouTube tutorial for a while now and need to get a tripod in order to produce them on a more professional basis…..another thing I dream of having happen. 🙂
Here’s a page I did this afternoon that I really love!! There are a few of my pages and projects I create that I really love, and this is one of them. I’m very happy with how it turned out. I used a bunch of supplies from Limor Webber’s online store called Limor Webber Designs. I LOVE her store and she carries the absolute coolest and versatile products!! If you’ve never paid her a visit, you really need to. For this page, the background was created by first of all adhering random torn pieces from my old dictionary using my Matte Gel medium. I then put on a layer of Gesso over it and wiped it back off the book pages for the most part. I tool two of my Lindy’s Stamp Gang Magicals called Tiffanylou’s Blue and Cotton Candy Pink. I used the blue first and I took a small amount and put it on my craft mat and spritzed it with water to make a water color. I added more water and then allowed it to drip off my craft mat onto my page before the Gesso was dry. I tipped it page up and added more spritz’s of water to make the color drip down the page. I added a bit more powder to my craft mat, more water and added brush strokes here and there to have more of the page covered in the color. The rest of the mixture I again allowed to pour over the page and I added a bit more water to make it a bit more concentrated at the top of the page. I heat set the page and then added the pink onto the page only using a brush to apply the color. Once that was dry I took one of my new 6×6 Prima stencils (item #575946) called Stone Wall, my Faber Castell Gelato in Squid Ink, a stencil brush and applied the stencil to the page. Loved the subtle pattern I obtained with this stencil. I then took my new Indigo Blu Bubbles Background stamp and my Faber Castell PITT Big Brush pen in black and used that to ink a portion of the stamp and used it randomly around the page. I took a piece of corrugated cardboard and dry brushed on some Gesso, heat set it….some of the blue and pink magicals that I once again mixed into a water color paint and dried it once again with the heat gun. I had fussy cut three butterflies from a piece of designer paper I had from BoBunny and adhered the cardboard and the butterflies to the page. I added one of the Prima Junkyard Findings clock faces to the cardboard. I took my Stabilo All pencil and traced around some of the bubbles, applied a small amount of water and created some depth and emphasis to some of the bubbles I’d stamped onto the page. LOVE that pencil!! I used the “dream’ sticker from my Heidi Swapp sticker package and outlined it with my Pilot PermaBall pen. I distressed the edges of the page with my black Faber Castell Gelato and it was done!
Here are a few close ups:
I linked all the products I used from Limor’s store. Check them out!!
Thanks so much for reading this post…..I do so appreciate your comments. Have a fantastic day!!
Creating in my art journal is one of those things that is so calming for the soul. I’m not sure exactly what it is, but it just has a way of making my heart smile. I’m loving my new Faber Castell Steampunk Gelato set. The colors blend and meld together so beautifully. Another page created with supplies from Limor Webber Designs on-line store. I started out with using all the bits and pieces of paper I had on my desk. I even found a narrow strip of canvas I stuck on too. I then took my Prima “Bubbles” stencil and some Faber Castell Whipped Spackle (one of my absolute favorite products) and my Catalyst Shaper Tool (my favorite tool from the store…. 😉 ) I adhered my Tim Holtz gears, the key and the quote tile. Next a layer of gesso to tone down some of the colors of my scrap papers I used. Then the layers of Gelato’s. Gelato then water, more Gelato, more spritz’s of water. A bunch of splatters. Used some of my Lindy’s Stamp Gang Dark Chocolate Truffle starburst spray through an alpha stencil and splattered some of that on the page and let it drip too. I used my Faber Castell Big Brush pen in black and white to highlight some of the circles (love those pens too…..lol) and finally used some of my Tim Holtz rub on’s and just put them on randomly on the page. I toned down the darkness of the rub on’s with a little gesso just so they weren’t so start black. Finished off the page with some black Gelato around the edges and along some of the paper strips I’d started out with to add some additional texture to the page and I was done!
Here’s what the finished page looks like!
Here’s a few close ups of some of the elements.
Got my inspiration for this page from a video Limor did recently…..loved her dots with the white highlights!
Thanks for poking your head in….till next time!
Soooo…….what do you do when you’re put in a situation where you have an opportunity to spend the weekend with people you never hung around with in high school to celebrate your 55th birthday ‘year’ at a weekend party?? You make your husband decide if we’re going or not of course….lol!! Then when he decides you’re going, what do you do?? You put a smile on your face and agree to go of course! To say I was excited to be going would be a lie. To say I was a little nervous and apprehensive about going would be an understatement. I wouldn’t re-live my high school years for a million dollars. I’d survived the party we’d gone to 5 years before for the 50th birthday ‘year’ party without any scars…..lol. Sooo, we went. I can say with complete honestly I actually had a good time. I got to know these people a little bit more. It’s funny how your outlook on how you perceive people to still be after 35 years can change. I only wanted to run away once and that’s when they were reading through the year book and got to my name…..lol. But I made it through that as well and am now looking forward to our next milestone. Here’s to another 5 years and our 60th in Palm Springs!!
Okay, so enough about high school…….it seems like it’s been so long since I pulled out one of my Art Journals. I have to say it felt so good to pull out those supplies and just sit and let it flow. I’ve been making allot of ATC’s lately, which have been fun, but my bigger pages is where I get my best feelings of just doing what I love to do. So, here’s what I created the other day with supplies from Limor Webber’s on-line store called Limor Webber Desings. I used one of her new Lindy’s Stamp Gang sets called Tres Chic and used the sprays and a few of the embossing powders over Gesso. Love, love, LOVE this set! Here’s the page I created which I’m going to enter into the Lindy’s Stamp Gang monthly color challenge:
My inspiration for the page came from a YouTube video I watch by Maremi SmallArt located here.
Supplies used were: Faber Castell Whipped Spackle, Prima stencil called Bubbles by Finnabair (no longer in stock), a couple of her background stamps from both the Dina Wakely Textures set and one of the Big Red stamps called Quantum Background. All of these supplies are also available in her store and I added direct links to each product at the end of the blog post. The black drips were done with some Liquitex ink! in Carbon Black that is also in the store. The Prima bling I used I received from her in one of her destash grab boxes she sold along with the Prima flowers and the Scrap FX and Fab Scraps chipboard used. Here’s a few close up’s of the page:
Thank you for stopping by. It feels good to be creating again. 😉

I think I’ve found a new addiction. A friend from work and I went to our local Art Gallery this evening where they’re featuring ATC collections from a few different collectors. What a blast we had!!! These little 2.5″ x 3.5″ works of art are so much fun. After the short presentation, we were all given the opportunity to create our own ATC’S if we wanted and then trade them. As I kinda figured there’d be an opportunity to trade the cards that night, I decided to make a few the night before. I made 4 and I have to say they were pretty fun to make and took no time at all!
Here are my first 4 ATC’S!!
This one was made by first collaging on some scraps of Tim Holtz tissue wrap and spritzing it with two of the Lindy’s Stamp Gang spays from the Industrial Chic set in Time Travel Teal and Rusty Lantern Lime. I added some texture using some of my new Faber Castell Whipped Spackle and the Tim Holtz Dot Fade stencil. I also used some black and white Liquitex Basics acrylic paint to stencil on the two step heart from The Crafter’s Workshop stencil called Mini Mixed & Match Hearts. I distressed the edges of the card with my black Gelato and blended it in.
This one was also collaged with some Tim Holtz scrap tissue wrap and sprayed with the same Lindy’s sprays. The butterflies were stamped using my new Faber Castell PITT artist Big Brush pen and were colored in with my Lindy’s Hibiscus Rose Flat Fabio. I outlined the sentiment with my Uni-bal Signo white gel pen and distressed the border with my black Gelato and blended it in.
This card was colored using my Faber Castell Gelato’s and blended together. I used a baby wipe and a Crafter’s Workshop stencil to remove some of the color to add more texture to the card. I stamped on my Deep Red Bette Davis Eyes stamp with my Big Brush pen along with the sentiment and tiny flowers. Again the edges were distressed with my black Gelato.
This last one was also colored using my Gelatos, some color removed through one of my Crafter’s Workshop stencils and a baby wipe. The dandelion is one of my new Stampin’ Up! stamp sets and the sentiment is from a stamp I bought at Michael’s in the $1.25 bin. Edges distressed with the black Gelato.
I was able to trade all 4 cards away this evening and have received my very first ATC’S that I already have in my sleeve protector sheet and ready to be put into a binder.
Soooo much fun with these!! Thanks so much for stopping by…..till next time!!
It’s been a long time my blog family & friends. I haven’t felt like coming down to paint for a few weeks now and just this past week came back down to see what I could create. I sat looking at my supplies the first night and then on Wednesday evening I sat and had a Skype chat with Tracy. We had such a good chat……one I think I needed very badly. I had a glass of wine…..she had a cup of tea….you’ll have to ask her why she was drinking tea. Tracy did have one pretty big revelation while we were chatting and realized I was at my computer while I was talking to her……face to face…….on the computer. (She should of thought about the whole cup of tea vs the glass of wine…..it may have been easier to explain the revelation……just sayin’ Tracy) 😉
So, what do you foolishly decide to do when you’re on a Skype call with a good friend and start talking about your stash of Washi Tape and what exactly we’re suppose to do with the stuff?? You agree to a Washi Tape-off challenge of course!!! Then when you hang up you start to panic and wonder what the heck you were thinking!!! First of all, who agrees to any type of “Art-off’ with Tracy? Secondly, who agrees to a Washi Tape-off when you’re still not even sure what anyone would use it for?! Off to Pinterest I went to try to get some inspiration. Found something I liked and the idea grew and here is it…..my first Washi Tape-off challenge extraordinaire!!!
I had fun with this page and played with my Faber Castell Gelatos, some India Ink, one of my Crafter’s Workshop stencils with Texture paste and my charcoal pencil. I bought a stamp at Michel’s in their Dollar bin and had to include it. “Life’s All About Plan B”.
So, there you have it. I’m off to watch a couple of YouTube videos.
Thanks so much for coming…..I do so appreciate it. ❤
For our second week’s over on the Journal52 Facebook group, we were given the prompt “Somewhere, someplace”. I chose to do a sort of outdoor theme as I truly feel the most relaxed when I’m enjoying the beauty of the outdoors….whether it be actually sitting outside or viewing it from the comfort and warmth of my front window. My camera and files are full of pictures of wildlife, birds, butterflies, dragonflies, spiders, flowers, trees, water…..sunrises and sunsets.
I fussy cut out the corner piece from one of my BoBunny Gabrielle Flight sheets of paper. It’s one of my many lines of paper in my hoard…..I mean stash, that I’ve had for a long time and have never used. I also fussy cut out three more butterflies from a second sheet. Yup, that’s right….I cut into TWO pieces of that paper line! I know I’ll recover soon…..it may just take a little bit of time.
I painted the background very loosely with some of my new Liquitex Basic’s acrylic paints. I used the Bright Aqua Green, some Raw Siena, Ivory Black and Mars Black. I used one of my Crafters Workshop stencils called Mini Well Rounded that I purchased from the Frosted Designs on-line store I edged the three smaller butterflies with some black Gelato as well as put some around the border of the page. I also added some white Gelato around those same three butterflies to give them a sort of halo effect to help them pop off the page a bit. My did my journalling in the circle in the corner piece and it says, “and I think to myself….what a wonderful world”. Around the edge of the circle there is a phrase repeated over and over which also says, “There is beauty all around”.
Nothing like leaving this page to the last minute…..our next prompt comes out tomorrow.
Thanks for stopping by…..till next time!
