Venturing into the land of creating a canvas is freaking scary!!! This took me 4 days to complete and I doubted myself every step of the way. Creating an Art Journal page is one thing…..but a canvas…..that I was hoping to be able to hang up once I had it completed. YIKES!!! I used a bunch of supplies from Limor Webber’s Store, with my newest favorite supply being the Liquitex White Opaque Flakes Texture Gel……I’m really loving this stuff!! There’s a few layers to this piece and I love the texture I ended up with!!
Here’s the completed canvas…..
I wish the camera would pick up the texture better. I also inked the edges of the word “LOVE” in the bottom corner so it would stand out a bit more. I used allot of Prima flowers & embellishments, some Fab Scraps. I Am Roses flowers, other misc embellishments from my stash and from the grab boxes I ordered from Limor’s store a while ago, random strips of paper along with some Tim Holtz Tissue Paperand of course my trusted Lindy’s Stamp Gang sprays in Cotton Candy Pink, Toto’s Tornado Black and Golden Doublooms.
Here’s a few close ups:
So, there it is. Going to sleep on it and decide in the morning if it’s going on a wall or not….lol.
Thanks so much for dropping in…..I very much appreciate it.
This is leaving it to the last minute I tell you! !! I created this for the challenge over on Limor Webber’s FB group. She challenged us to follow the color challenge over on Lindy’s Stamp Gang blog. This was an old canvas I’d purchased a few years ago and didn’t like it anymore. I Gesso’d over it and covered the entire thing in lace and then added a layer of Gesso over the lace. I used a few different colors of Lindy’s Stamp Gang sprays: Cheshire Cat Cherry, T-bird Turquoise, Brushed Nickle, Toto’s Tornado Black. Some Dusty Attic honey comb cupboard, some Prima trinkets, butterfly and flowers, some I Am Roses flowers. I had fun putting this together. Here’s what it looks like!
Here’s a few close ups.
I’m at a scrapbooking retreat this weekend and hope to get a few cards made tomorrow.
Thanks for popping in. ….I always appreciate it!
Hello blog family!! I had a very dear friend come for a visit last weekend and we had a crafting good time!!! She arrived on Thursday, I took Friday off and we spent a wonderful long weekend just having a blast!! Another one of my very good friends came over each day (and into the wee hours) to join us and we spent a lot of time laughing and just having soooo much fun!!
I’m sitting in my Crafting Therapy Room with a wonderful cup of tea right now and editing my latest YouTube video. A girlfriend at work asked me to make her three Chipboard albums in Altered Boxes to give to her sisters for Christmas. I finished the first album and thought I’d share it with you. I had so much fun putting this together and dreaming up the little goodies I put on each page. Here’s what the top of the box looks like:
Check this out!!! I covered the whole box with patterned paper and then added layers and layers of goodness! There’s cheesecloth, black tulleing, flowers, bling, ribbon……need I say more?!! Oh, and check out that butterfly in all it’s glittery goodness. I just love that butterfly and of course…..my I Am Roses roses…..they’re a must!! Here’s a close up of those beauties…..
And do you see the wonderful black rosette ribbon??!! I have such a little bit left and I’d love to get my hands on more of it!! Did you see the pretty little black rose button on the front of the box in between the rosette’s? It has a piece of black tulleing wrapped around it to keep the lid of the box closed. It just fits perfectly into the design of the box I think!
Here’s what the album front looks like!
I continued with the black and white theme throughout the whole album. To the front cover here I started with a half of a doily and then started layering from there. The blinged out sprig, the pewter butterfly and my very first zipper flower I’ve made!! Added some swirly bling, lace and a few rhinestone and the title and ta da!!!! Album front is done! Here’s a close up of that cool zipper flower….
I love that flower and can see more of those in my future!!! For more detailed information and a closer look at the whole project, check out my YouTube video here:
Thanks once again for stopping by for a visit!! I truly love hearing your feedback, so please let me know you were here! Later!
Hello my little blog family!! I have another card to share with you that I made for the alphabet challenge over on Splitcoaststampers. Each week our lovely host picks a new letter from the alphabet and we have to come up with a card with something on it that starts with that letter. It’s alot of fun and quite challenging some weeks!! This is what I came up with for the letter F.
This card is really growing on me! I just love this stamped image by Hero Arts. It was stamped onto a piece of kraft cardstock that was torn and then inked with my Tim Holtz Vintage Photo and then just the very edge was inked with the Walnut Stain to give it an almost burned look to it. I stamped a second bird and fussy cut him out and pop dotted him up to add some dimension. I colored him in by sponging on some Tim Holtz Distress Ink in. Scattered Straw and some Fired Brick and Dried Marigold mixed. I added a couple of small feathers to him for wings and also added a real branch off of one of my fir trees in the back yard. I love the look of it on the card!! I used my Martha Stewart leaf stamp for the leaves and colored them in with my Fired Brick and Dried Marigold as well. I added a I Am Roses cherry blossom that I inked the edges with by using more of my Tim Holtz Distress ink in the Fired Brick. I added a few sentiments and it’s complete!
I added some Close To My Heart liquid glass to the First Class and Friendship sentiments to give them some added ‘pop’ off the page! And here’s my cute little bird…..
I really like how he turned out.
I’m off to go and do some more surfing……till next time!!
Hello to my little blogging family. I have a very cool post for you today! I made a very cute little padfolio using my September kit from Scrapn’ With Flair. I contains papers from Graphic 45 A Ladies Diary and is gorgeous!!! This padfolio was made following a YouTube video made by a wonderful lady by the name of Shannon Green. You have to go and check out her video’s…..she makes the most amazing journals and has some of the best tips and tricks!! Here’s a link to part one of the video for this padfolio: Shannon Green. You can find part two in her video listing. Check it out!!
The pen slides through a little slot and this is what keeps the book closed! Check out the I Am Roses roses that came with the kit along with the skeleton leaf (except for the gardenia which was included in the July kit). And that wide eyelet lace along the bottom…..OMGoodness!!! It is simply beautiful and also comes in the kit. You’ll have to check out the YouTube video to see how I altered the pen to match the padfolio…..very cool.
Check out the two pockets on this page…..the one at the bottom and the triangle at the top is also a pocket!! The sticker is from the kit along with the little I Am Roses cherry blossoms. The sting of half-back pearls and the lace on the bottom pocket are from my own stash. I included a piece of cardstock (8.5 x 11 folder in half) as one of the inside pages!
On this page I added the file tab from the sticker sheet included in the kit. There is another pocket on the bottom of this page that’s been trimmed with lace from my stash along with the last of my half-back pearls from my July kit!
This page has a diagonal pocket on it. You can also see another file tab attached to this page. The lace is again from my stash and I included one more of my I Am Roses cherry blossoms to this page. You can also see another piece of my cardstock from my stash as a page insert in the second section of the padfolio.
Here’s the last page of the folio. It includes a pocket that has room to fit a note pad in it! I also attached one of the chipboard diecuts included in the kit that has a piece of lace tied to it from my own stash. There is also another strip of lace from my own stash along the top of this pocket.
So, there you have it! My completed padfolio.
Here’s my YouTube video of the whole project here:
I’m off to continue with the cleaning/organizing/purging of my craftroom where I’m trying to figure out why on earth I’ve kept and accumulated soooo much stuff!!! As always, I love to hear what you think……till next time!!
Hey there my blogging family! I was at our cabin for a few days last week and decided it was time to make some cards again…..I had a blast!! One of these days I’ll figure out how to do the delayed blog post thingy so a new post comes up every day or so……but ya, that’s not going to happen today, so I’ll just put them all into one post…..lol. The paper and most of the embellishments used on these cards were all purchased from Leanne’s store called Scrapn’ With Flair…..check it out….she has great prices!!
Have I mentioned how much I love my I Am Roses roses??? I really like how this card turned out and love the shabbiness of it (is that even a word?? lol). I used papers from the BoBunny Country Garden line and the Weathered design. I love this paper line and had such a hard time cutting into it!!! It’s so crazy, but I feel like I have this hoarding vault full of all my favorite stuff and I never want to use it…..soooo silly!!. I used a strip off both sides of the paper for this card and covered the seam with a piece of lace I found at our local Thrift Store…….I LOVE that store!! I’ve got so much stuff from there for just a few dollars, it’s crazy!!. I distressed the edges with my Tim Holtz distress tool and then inked the edges with my Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Weathered Wood…..one of my favorite inks. I attached a butterfly from a package from Close To My Heart and then grabbed my Gesso and randomly applied some to give the card an old weathered look. It doesn’t show in the picture, but I applied some of my Close To My Heart Liquid Glass to the two colored butterflies on the paper……I really love how that stuff just adds to the dimension on a card!
So…….how ’bout this one…..very mixed media…..I really like it. It’s not for everyone, but I’m really having fun with the whole mixed media world lately. For this card I started with a Kraft cardstock base and then layered on paper from the BoBunny Timepiece line and the Country Garden line. I tore the layers and then distressed the edges with my fingernail and inked them with my Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Vintage Photo…..another one of my go-to favorites! I used my Stampin’ Up! Scallop Trim Border punch, some burlap pieces and some jute twine. The butterfly is from the 12 x 12 Chipboard add-on to the BoBunny Country Garden line and it has a bunch of very cute elements to be used! I took my texture paste and randomly smeared it over the card and burlap and then added a bit of white Gesso to the top of it to give it more of a white look. Once I was all done with the card I grabbed my Tsukineko Goosebumps Clear Texture Spray and gave the whole front of the card a spritz with it……it leaves a very cool raised texture to the card front once dry. Along the left side of the card there is also half a doily pasted on that’s been spritzed with some of my Lindy’s Stamp Gang Flat Fabios (sooooo love these spritz’s!!!) in Caribbean Blue, Luscious Lime and Mango Mania.
This is more of a traditional card I made for the Alphabet Challenge on SCS. The letter for this week was C. I used the BoBunny Timepiece paper and then took my stamps from a new set made by “darkroom door” called Tick Tock. I stamped all three clocks onto cardstock using my Rich Cocoa Memento Ink, distressed the edges with my Tim Holtz distress tool and inking the edges with my Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Vintage Photo. I also inked the entire edge of the card base with the Vintage Photo as well. I added some of my Close To My Heart Liquid Glass to the edges of two of the clocks and to the swirls on the card front. The sentiment is also from the same stamp set and the silver butterfly was from my stash as were the brown flat-back pearls.
This is the last card I made…..
The butterflies were stamped onto a piece of paper towel and then spritzed with my Lindy’s Stamp Gang Flat Fabios in Caribbean Blue, Luscious Lime and Mango Mania. I also took the other half of the doily I’d already spritzed and used it on the side of this card. I added some lace that I died using the spritz’s and a lace bow. I took my texture past and smeared quite a bit of it on the front of the card and then spritzed it as well. I added some stickles to the wings of the butterflies and then traced around them with my white pen to make them pop. I distressed the edges of the card with my Distress Tool and then inked them with some Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Broken China. I added three I Am Roses roses to the front. These three roses were already inked with the black on the edges of the petals, so I took my spritz’s in the Caribbean Blue and the Mango Mania and gave them a couple of sprays to tie them into the card better.
That’s it for my very long post…….if you’ve stuck around this far, thank you!!! As always I love to read your comments/feedback. I’m off the see what else strikes my fancy……till next time!
Hey there my little blog family!! I’m experiencing a lesson in total frustration right now as this is the second time I’m typing and uploading this post. I had it all done……yup…..allll done and poof!!! It disappeared……ugh!!!! Soooo, here I go again. 🙂
A couple of weeks ago I saw a post on one of the blogs I follow called “florence and freddie” and Florence is so incredibly talented!! You need to check out her blog: florence and freddie She had these wonderful altered mouse traps on her blog and there’s a link to a group called Out of a Hat Creations you have to check out too…..a very talented group. I fell in love with their mouse trap creations and had to try one for myself! I even did a YouTube tutorial as I made it so you’d see how I put it together. I did however add the little cluster of flowers to the upper half after I was done videoing…..it just needed something more than just the key after I had it all done. This was my first actual tutorial YouTube and I realized as I watched the playback that I say ummm alot!!!
I pulled out my JUNE KIT from Scrapn’ With Flair . Leanne still has a couple of kits left so run on over and check it out and grab one before they’re gone!!…..it’s a fabulous kit with a lot of yummy goodness in it. Check this little cutie out!!
So?? What do you think?!! Did you catch my warped sense of humor…..my little parody on the nursery rhyme ‘Hickory, Dickory, Dock……the mouse ran up the clock’? Ya I know…..keep my day job…..lol. But I’ll bet you giggled……just sayin’. ;
Here’s a close up of those oh so cute little clocks and those rockin I Am Roses roses……oh! how I love those roses!!!
Here’s a link to the YouTube video I did on it…..
I also did up a couple of cards using the papers from this kit. I just love the grungy look of them!
Is that black lace not just to die for?! It’s included in the kit! Loving the lace paper too……it’s pop dotted off the front panel to add some depth to the card. The glittery swirl is from my stash as are the black bling accents in the corners. The little metal ‘Love’ embellishment is also from my stash and I came across it when I was going through some old packages of embellishments. It was screaming to be used!
Now how about this black lace?? It’s not included in the kit but I did purchase it from Leanne’s store……soooooooo love it!!. The bird sticker is included in the kit and the swirl bling is from my stash. I really like the pop of red on the bottom of the card and it really makes the lace stand out.
So, my friends, that’s it for this post! Thank you so much for popping in to take a peek…..I do truly appreciate all of you!! I love to hear your thougths…..don’t be shy. 😉
Until next time……
Having a blast with the July kit!!!
Hey there blog land friends!! I’ve been having so much fun with the July Basic Grey kit with the Plumeria line from Scrapn’ With Flair on-line store. LOVE the colors!! I’ve been playing and made a few cards I want to show you.
So, one thing you should know about me…..I have a really hard time with Clean & Simple cards. I like the simplicity of this card…..and each time I look at it I want to just grab it and start adding stuff!! I’m really loving the lace in this kit……but then again, I am a bit of a lace junkie. That butterfly is so stinkin’ cute and is one of the stickers in the kit. I stuck it down onto a piece of cardstock so I could pop dot it up and bend the wings up a little to give it some dimension. I soooo want to run some Distress Ink over the edges of this card!!! Hmmmmm…..
This card was made using some scraps of the paper I used for my altered box from the same July kit. I added a half a doily from my stash to the one edge and inked it in the Bundled Sage and Milled Lavendar Distress inks. And take a look-see at that flower spray!! Leanne has an amazing assortment of I Am Roses roses in the store and these things are my new favorite embellishment to use! The scallopped frame and pearls were also from my own stash. I love that little sentiment stamp I picked up in the $1.00 bin at Michaels some time ago…..I use that one quite a bit. I think my flower spray needs a nice seam binding double bow tied onto it with perhaps a button…….lol. You know ladies, am I the only one that looks at her creations after we’re done them, upload them on our computers and want to add or fix things??? lol. I drive myself nuts doing that all the time…..geesh!!!
This is my favorite card so far. I inked the front of the card with some Vintage Photo and Broken China Distress Ink and then stamped my new background stamp onto the front of it. I love anything with birds and this stamp was on sale at Michael’s and is by Hero Arts – Musical Collage. I stamped it out a second time and cut the bird out, inked it and pop-dotted it up off the page. The teal and brown border is a strip of paper from the kit’s scraps that had, what looked like a real cool border, on it. I attached a narrow piece of lace from my stash under it and really like the look. I took my distressing tool to the edge of the border scrap and then inked the edges in Walnut Stain Distress Ink. And there are more of those awesome little I Am Roses roses I had in my stash that I had to use. The brighter orange one came that color and the other two I spritzed with some of my Lindy’s Stamp Gang sprays to get a slightly different color than what they were. Have I told you just how much I love my Lindy’s products?? lol. I used Bluebeard Blue Violet Moon Shadow Mist on the bigger one ( it was a sort of Taupe brown color before I spritzed it and the other smaller orange one was also orange…..until it met up with the same mister. The sentiment is stamped on a die cut from Spellbinders Shapeabilities Fancy Tags set and inked with some Vintage Photo and pop-dotted on. The chocolate brown half back pearls were also from my stash.
So, there you have my cards I put together. I hope they give you some inspiration to grab some paper and get to creating something yourself!! I’d love to see what you all make with the kit……we learn soooo much from each other when we share what we create. If you haven’t purchased the July kit yet, there are still a few left so get on over to the store and buy it…..you truly won’t be dissappointed once you get your hands on it and can touch all the goodies and start playing!!!
Chao till next time!! I have a couple of other projects in my head I want to work on next week……this weekend is to the lake to relax at the cabin!!
Hello my fellow crafting blog friends. If you ever want a lesson in frustration try and do a video recording to post on You Tube…..lol. Holy cow!! Some things I learned…….make sure camera is charged…..grrrrr. Turn off phone so it won’t ring when you’re almost done recording. Finish recording and then realized I’d recorded it upside down for the viewers…….that one was a real winner. Go to upload it to You Tube and spend two days trying to figure out why it won’t download. Try and sign into You Tube using the wrong sign in account name…..brilliant!! FINALLY realize the reason it won’t download is because the file is too big as I recorded it in HD……doh!!
As part of my duties on the Scrap ‘n With Flair design team, I have to do one You Tube video a month. Well, I finally have the first one under my belt. Definitely some things I’ll do differently next time…….learned allot…..still have lots to learn about it and will improve with each one…..hopefully!! So, check it out and let me know what you think!! Here’s the link:
Will I ever be a You Tube star…..probably not but I did kinda have fun doing it and am actually looking forward to doing another one. As always, I love to hear from you. Thanks so much for stopping by!
Hello to my blogging friends! I have a couple of cards to show you using a technique that may or may not actually be a technique…..lol. A few months ago we had the fabulous Leanne from Scrap ‘n With Flair in Humboldt for a one day, 12 hour Scrap and Yap day. I wasn’t able to make it to the Scrap and Yap, but I knew that Leanne would be there with her products from her on-line store and I just had to go and play for just a little while and do some shopping!!! This is where I first saw the Lindy’s Stamp Gang products and they are fantastic!! If you don’t know what they are you have to check them out in Leanne’s store. You’ll see some of them in future projects I’ll be posting…..the colors are incredible!! This is also where I first saw “I Am Roses” flowers and went home with a nice little bundle of those too……you’ll see these little gems on my card today. One of the other products I purchased was some Claudine Hellmuth Studio multi-medium matte. I love the look of the mixed media projects out there and I really want to try to do some of it myself one of these days……just have to get the nerve up to actually try it!! I did however use my multi-medium matte on these two cards I made using this!
So this is a paper napkin I found while shopping and fell in love with the colors!! When I brought them home I thought……Oooooo……what nice cards they’d make!! So yup! I peeled them apart and started to tear and glue to make some cards!
For this card I tore out just the coffee mug and adheared it to a kraft card front. What I used to attach it was my Studio multi-medium matte. It’s really a cool product. I just took a brush and ‘painted’ some of the matte onto the card from and placed my torn piece of the paper napkin on top and then painted over top of the napkin with the matte as well. I took my heat tool and used it to dry the medium (as I’m WAY too impatient to wait till it dries overnight). I took some narrow cream-colored lace and sprayed it with my Lindy’s Stamp Gang Moon Shadow Mist in Burnished Brass and also gave my card from a bit of a spritz as well. I dried my lace with my heat tool and attached it to the side of the card. I then took my Ranger Distress Ink in Black Soot and Rusty Hinge and stamped some random background stamps onto the card from using my Tim Holtz Ultimate Grunge background stamp set. I used the dots and the grid pattern stamps on this card. This is such a fun set and has funky stamps with a dots pattern, a grid pattern, a crackled glass pattern, random date stamps pattern a checkerboard pattern, bricks pattern and a numbers pattern. All of these stamps are a sort of distressed, grungy type of pattern and I love them!! Notice the fabulous pop of color from the three little roses on the corner of the card……I love these little flowers!! They’re from the I Am Roses line and are just so stinkin’ cute!! I distressed the edges of the card, added some bling and it’s done!
I took a look at the napkin again and wanted to incorporate more of the pattern from it and decided to cover the entire front of my next card with it. Check it out!
I really like how this card turned out. I used my multi-medium matte on it again and this time I painted it on quite thick and chunky to add some additional dimension to the card. I spritzed the front of the card and my white paper doily with my same Lindy’s Moon Shadow Mist in the Burnished Brass. I attached the doily to the corner of the card and then grabbed my Tim Holtz Ultimate Grunge background stamps again with my Distress Black Soot ink and stamped randomly with the dots pattern and the multi date stamp pattern. I had some paper butterflies from Close To My Heart that I also spritzed with my Moon Shadow Mist and then added some stickles to the edges of the wings and some bling down the body. I took a piece of rusty-brown cardstock and stamped my sentiment onto it, tore the edges and then inked them with my Black Soot. I attached it to the card using my multi-medium matte to give it the same texture and dimension as the rest of the card. I attached a dangly bling piece from my stash, distressed the edges of the card and tore away at a couple of the corners and it was done!!
So, this was the result of playing with my new product and a paper napkin……let me know what you think!! You know I love to hear from you!!
