Just the way I am…

Just the way I am…

Day #12. I’ve had my niece and Great Nephew here for a couple of days already and I can’t tell you how much I’m enjoying them being here.  And to be able to come down to my studio and play with supplies and have her ‘shop’ in my room of stuff I’m going to purge has been such fun.  She’s a special girl (as all my nieces are) and I’m not taking this visit for granted at all.  I’m so very blessed.  Ethan’s little personality is so stoic. He honestly cracks me up.  He has one look and it’s the cutest look ever.  Even when he cries he really doesn’t cry.  He’s such a content little man and I only wish I had some extra time to take off to be able to spend an entire day with them.

While she was drooling over supplies, I was creating an art journal page in my little recipe book I tore out of a magazine and made into a miniature art journal.  It only has 4 pages in it and I’ve had fun just playing in it.  I found some new napkins at either our Dollar Store or The Bargain Store…and because I don’t have many napkins yet, I thought I better pick them up…..bahahahahaha.

My napkin collection…..

The new ones I just had to have…..

See!!!!  You totally would have bought them too…..right?!!!

I decided to use the one with the flower on it this evening and then grabbed my Lindy’s Stamp Gang Color Shots and used some of the colors from both sets Limor Webber designed called Tres Chic and Under The Board Walk. I used the c’est la vie cerise, tilt-a-wheel teal and cafe au lait.  Love these and I think tied in with the brown tones in the napkin quite well.  I sprayed some water color paper with some of the Color Shot color and added some water so the color would just start to tun together.  Then I dried it and drew out a few hearts.  I cut them out, distressed the edges and then colored them with one of my Faber Castell PITT artist pen big brush in Nougat 178.  I adhered them to the page using my Golden Regular Gel (Matte), added some cotton embroidery thread and my little quote.  I added more splatters in the three colors and I was done!

I love the color combo of browns and blue tones.

Thank you for sticking with me on this ride.  I appreciate your comments and suggestions.  Until tomorrow…..

You are BEAUTIFUL!!!

You are BEAUTIFUL!!!

One of the girls I work with has this black leather wrap bracelet and it has this amazing quote on it.  I borrowed it from her the other day at work and copied it out as I really wanted to put it on an Art Journal page.  I also have the Lindy’s Stamp Gang Color Shots in the Tres Chic that have been calling my name for a while now.  I decided to add water to them and use them as a water color.  (more because I don’t have any acrylic medium or glaze) lol.  You can find these in Limor Webber’s wonderful store and I’ve linked up any of the products I used that were purchased from her store –  here’s a link to the Color Shots.  I love the Flat Shots and the white undertones of this Tres Chic set are so fun to play with!  I colored my background in with three of the colors and allowed them to blend and bleed together just a bit.  I used Chateau Rose, Bonjour Butter and Merci Beaucoup Mint.  I did some stamping with one of the heart stamps from Dina Wakely’s Media stamp set called Collaged Hearts, and I used my Faber Castell PITT artist big brush pen as the ink to stamp with.  Love that pen and use it ALL the time!!  I used a rub-on from one of my Tim Holtz sets called Remnant Rubs “Elements”.  There are sooo many rub-ons in his sets, it’s awesome!  I layered some cheese cloth, Prima flowers from my stash and some Prima metal (Ingvild Bolme ShabbyChic *Door Signs* and one of the clocks cut in half from the Junkyard Findings Clock Faces set).  A couple of my flowers were a bit too white for me as were the Prima metal embellishments so I took two of my Prima Resist Chalk Edgers in the Old Rose and Lime Pie and applied them to my craft mat, added some water and ‘painted’ them.  Added my quote and some splatters and distressed the edges of the stamped hearts and the page with my Stabilo All pencil (my favorite charcoal pencil ever!!)

Here’s what my page ended up looking like:

So, that’s it!  This little journal only has a couple pages left to do and it’ll be full!

Thanks for popping in once again.  I love hearing from you…..did you make it through all the writing Sandee??  😉

Coffee friend.

I played along with another one of Sunday’s With Sandee while I was at the cabin.   I thought I’d be spending more time creating, but you know how that happens.  I used some of my Tim Holtz Composer Tissue wrap for the background on the page and adhered it with my Golden Matte Medium, I used one of my home-made stencils for the chevron shapes for my table using my Liquitex Basics Raw Umber acrylic paint and then painted over it and the rest of the page with some of my Crow’s Nest Copper Color Shot that I’d mixed up with some Winsor & Newton Matt UV Varnish.  Love the color with a slight touch of shimmer it added to the page.  I then took my Crafter’s Workshop Mini Circle Grid stencil that I got in my November 2013 Mixed Media kit at the Frosted Desgins on-line store and sprayed some of my Lindy’s Stamp Gang Time Travel Teal that is also available in the Frosted Design’s on-line store in their Industrial Chic set.  I drew out the coffee mug, painted it with my Liquitex Basics Cadmium Red Medium Hue acrylic paint and did some doodling on and added some of my Crow’s Nest Copper Color Shot at the top of the mug for the coffee.  I found the coffee quote on Pinterest and away I went with my Faber Castell Pitt Pen brush and my Uni-Bal Signo White Gel pen!

Here’s the completed page…..which I did for my friend Tamiko who is a coffee guru…..enjoy!!!

I don’t like my coffee mug…..but it’s glued down and I’m not changing it now. LOL.  I never have developed a taste for coffee and never drink it.  I’m a tea body all the way!!  I have my Grandmother’s old tea pot with metal insulated tea cozy and all……along with instructions on how to make the perfect cup of tea.  Not that I always make it that way…..but I do know how!

Thanks for popping in…..off to do a second post.  (Don’t want Sandee to have to read too much in one sitting….LOL)
