Little girls birthday…..

Standard

Hey there peeps…..I’m on a roll so thought, why quit now??!!!  Here is a card I made for a challenge that I found out didn’t qualify, because it took me longer than 45 minutes to make it……lol.  Over on the SCS site they have what they call a Virtual Stamp Night where anyone can get together on-line for a Friday evening and the following Saturday afternoon and early evening and make cards.  There is a new card challenge posted every hour…..yup, that’s right….every hour and you’re given 45 minutes to complete the card.  Now, in reality, if you’re not able to make it for the slotted in time of the Virtual Stamp Night you can still play along after the fact until Monday evening and still do all the challenges…..with the same expectation that your card only take you 45 minutes.  HA!  Okay, so I don’t know if I’ve EVER created a card in 45 minutes!!  First, it must take me all of 45 minutes  just to pick out what paper I want to use!!  (and I will clarify though that the time you spend picking out the paper doesn’t count towards your 45 minutes to create your card…..thank goodness or I’d be sunk every time!!) But even taking that into consideration, I still can’t get it done!!  I have to lay everything I picked out ono the card, arrange it, re-arrange it, decide I don’t like an embellishment, change a color up, start cutting everything out, stamp an image (s), distress an edge or two,  ink up an edge or two, decide to then make an embellishment, re-arrange everything again….geesh!!  I don’t know if I’m even capable of cranking out a card in 45 minutes!!!  I have to give these ladies a lot of credit.  They come to these Virtual Stamp Nights prepared with some Go-To card sketches they like to do that are quick and easy, they’ll have a bunch of images stamped and colored, they’ll have backgrounds already done up and ready to go, they’ll have their card bases all cut, scored and folded, ready to go.  They’ll have embellishments handy to be used on any kind of card that may come up…..I tell you…..these are seasoned pro’s!!  I was a rookie that wouldn’t even have made the farm team…..heck, the local rec team for that matter!!!  But you know…..that’s all okay…..because I can still do all the card challenges if I want to…..I’ll just post them on my blog instead!!

So, this colorful little number was made using an embossed piece of cardstock with cupcakes on it…..don’t ask me what the name of it is cause I don’t remember.  I got it when I hosted an embossed cardstock swap and I think it’s pretty darned cute!  That little present was made using my Close To My Heart Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge and the matching stamps.  I cut the main gift out of  bright lime green and yellow striped cardstock and stamped the swirls onto it with the matching stamp for that gift cut out using my Tim Holtz distress ink in Concord Grape.  The stamp is from the Celebration stamp set.  I then traced the swirls with my glue pen and sprinkled some glitter onto the swirls.  Next, what present is complete without a bow….so off to the Cricut again and cut out the matching bow for the gift.  Inked the edges of the gift and the bow with the Concord Grape, pop dotted it onto the card and blinged it up!!

Have I mentioned how much I love my Close To My Heart Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge lately??  I mean, this thing comes with the cartridge, three stamp sets that co-ordinate with some of the cuts from the cartridge and three sets of Dimentional Elements (chipboard shapes, tags and banners)  that also match some of the cuts from the cartridge.  This little shape for the Happy Birthday! sentiment is one of those shapes included with the set.  It gives you the dimensions on the packages so I was able to go to my cartridge and cut out the matching purple piece of cardstock to match the shape, glue it on, stamp it and ink the edges in no time at all!  Added some bling and……….

…one finished birthday card for a cute little girl!

I have to give a shout out to two of  my blogging friends who have pretty much taught me all I do on my blog.  I really like the idea of posting some of the pictures of my cards in full size .  Great idea Lisa and Lauren…..you should really go and check out their blogs if you have some time.  There’s Lisa over at the Crafting Cottage and Lauren over at Laurenscraft.  Amazingly talented ladies who have some beautiful creations on their blogs…..it will be well worth you time to check these ladies out.

Now, another post or leave the rest till tomorrow…..hmmm…..

Once again, I always appreciate it when you come by for a visit…..love to read your comments.  Till next time!

I Spy With My Little Eye……

Standard

Hello blogging friends!!  Why is it I always seem to be blogging at midnight??  I keep telling myself that I’m going to get to bed early this time…..ya, it just never happens!!  I’m on a new mission in my craft room right now.  Finding a system to store all my acrylic stamps so I #1, know what I even have for stamps and #2, can find them when I want them.  I think I must have watched about a dozen You Tube videos tonight and I think I may have come up with a system that will work for me.  When (if) I get it all done I’ll share it with you…..it may just work for you to!

I decided I’d better get my I spy card done tonight before I miss yet another mission…..I may end up getting kicked off the team if I miss too many!  Last weeks clue led us to a candle and this weeks clue is looking like it’s leading us to an eyelet.  I decided I’d combine both last weeks challenge with this weeks challenge and that way I can say I completed both missions……right?!  I have a friend that asked me to make some birthday cards for her to use for all her nieces and nephews birthdays for this year.  I decided to make a little boy birthday card and I’ve had these birthday embellishments for a while now and have been trying to think of a way to use them.  It sort of came together tonight for me.

It’s was a very simple card to put together and didn’t take me that long.  I decided I wanted just an extra pop of color so I used my CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge and cut out a bright green scalloped rectangle.  I attached the four black eyelets to it and then adhered the birthday candle “happy birthday” embellishment.

I added some star dust stickles to the flames of the candles to give them some sparkle.  I also wanted a bit more dimension to the gift box so I attached a ribbon bow to the top of the box.  Easy peasy……kinda cute.  I hope she’ll like it!

So tomorrow night, I’m going to grab my sewing machine, some acetate, some page protectors, maybe some white cardstock and see if I can get my acrylic stamps organized…….stay tuned……this could get interesting……lol!!
