You are BEAUTIFUL!!!

One of the girls I work with has this black leather wrap bracelet and it has this amazing quote on it.  I borrowed it from her the other day at work and copied it out as I really wanted to put it on an Art Journal page.  I also have the Lindy’s Stamp Gang Color Shots in the Tres Chic that have been calling my name for a while now.  I decided to add water to them and use them as a water color.  (more because I don’t have any acrylic medium or glaze) lol.  You can find these in Limor Webber’s wonderful store and I’ve linked up any of the products I used that were purchased from her store –  here’s a link to the Color Shots.  I love the Flat Shots and the white undertones of this Tres Chic set are so fun to play with!  I colored my background in with three of the colors and allowed them to blend and bleed together just a bit.  I used Chateau Rose, Bonjour Butter and Merci Beaucoup Mint.  I did some stamping with one of the heart stamps from Dina Wakely’s Media stamp set called Collaged Hearts, and I used my Faber Castell PITT artist big brush pen as the ink to stamp with.  Love that pen and use it ALL the time!!  I used a rub-on from one of my Tim Holtz sets called Remnant Rubs “Elements”.  There are sooo many rub-ons in his sets, it’s awesome!  I layered some cheese cloth, Prima flowers from my stash and some Prima metal (Ingvild Bolme ShabbyChic *Door Signs* and one of the clocks cut in half from the Junkyard Findings Clock Faces set).  A couple of my flowers were a bit too white for me as were the Prima metal embellishments so I took two of my Prima Resist Chalk Edgers in the Old Rose and Lime Pie and applied them to my craft mat, added some water and ‘painted’ them.  Added my quote and some splatters and distressed the edges of the stamped hearts and the page with my Stabilo All pencil (my favorite charcoal pencil ever!!)

Here’s what my page ended up looking like:

So, that’s it!  This little journal only has a couple pages left to do and it’ll be full!

Thanks for popping in once again.  I love hearing from you…..did you make it through all the writing Sandee??  😉

Skype play date with some Tres Chic!

I had a Skype date with my good friend Limor.  The intent was to work on cleaning up our studio’s……ya, that kinda didn’t happen…..lol.  She played with some of her new supplies and I played with my Lindy’s…..lol.  I played with my Tres Chic set and I mixed up the color shots too.  Mmmmm……mmmmm…..yumminess!!!  I ripped up some Prima Cartographer paper for my base and then started to spray and paint.  I grabbed two of my favorite stamps from Limor’s store….the Stamping Bella Love Notes and my Indigo Blue Bubbles Background to add some more texture and depth to the page.  i cut out some hot air balloons from the same Prima paper collection and just started to put stuff down. Added some Prima metal hardware, a few Tim Holtz rub-ons, did some shading with my Stabilo All pencil. (BEST pencil EVER!!!) Kinda happy with this page.  All the supplies I used were once again purchased from Limor’s amazing store, Limor Webber Designs.

I think I’m safe with the amount of words I used so far to keep Sandee reading to this point……right Sandee?!!  Now, here’s the page:

Here’s a few close up’s to show you the yummy colors and some of the texture I was able to achieve with the stamps and shading:  (still with me Sandee??)

Over on Sandee Setliffs FB group, Mixing It Up Everyday, her challenge for this month was to ask ourselves where we were that day and then do a journal page about it.  I will never forget that day.  I had just got home the night before.  I had just buried my Dad who had passed away.  I was still trying to process that and come to terms with it.  I woke up to the radio alarm with the news reports already flooding every media form.  A plane had just flown into the World Trade Centre.  Even though I’m a Canadian, our border disappeared that day and the days that followed.  What?!!  WHY?!!!  My heart sank even lower.  How do you even begin to process such an event.  How do you even begin to make sense of it.  My Dad passing away had a reason.  There were events leading up to it……it made sense.  It didn’t make it easy to process and my heart was aching.

This page wasn’t about the products used for me.  It wasn’t about who’s store I’d purchased them at. It wasn’t about tags, comments or how many hits I get.  It wasn’t about ability.  I KNOW this isn’t my best page…..I’m just not a painter and that is PERFECTLY fine.  This page is about the emotion of that day and the days that followed.  It’s about what came out of both events for me.  As nations coping….. and as a family coping……

We prayed.

We rose above.

We came together.

We reached out.

We loved.

We prayed…….

The next 10……well, plus one

As you may or may not know, I’m in a 52 card deck swap and we have a schedule where we do 10 cards every so often and send them onto the host.  I worked on my next set this weekend…..couldn’t count apparently as I have 11 cards done, which is no biggy as they all have to get to her sooner or later anyway…lol.  For this set I took some advice from one of the other members and did something different on each card with varied ephemera I had on hand.  The one thing that was constant on each card was the use of a paper napkin for the background to add some color and texture to the card right off the bat.  Here’s my take on this set of cards.  Not much to explain…..here they are!

20 or so more cards to go and I’ll be done!!

Thanks for stopping in!!  Off to do some relaxing at the cabin.  😉

Bubbles…….circles……

Hello my lovely peeps…..lol.  I spent some time playing with my deck of playing cards and making another set of 10 ATC’s from them for a 52 card deck swap I’m in.  I’d used a bunch of napkins for backgrounds on this set and had all these pieces of napkin sitting on my desk when I was done.  Could I just throw them out…..NOOOO!!!!!  I grabbed my small art journal and just started adhering them all over the page using my Golden Matte Medium to cover it and give it some yummy texture and color. Once I had it all covered I took my favorite modeling paste from Faber Castell called Whipped Spackle and my Crafter’s Workshop stencil called Mini Ledger and added more texture to the page.  I have this little tool I use when I use my stencils and this thing is the bomb!!!  It’s called the Catalyst Shaper Tool and that thing rocks!  Here’s what it looked like when I was done.

Now what…..lol.  I decided I wanted to isolate just certain areas of the page and took my Unibal Signo white pen and drew out some circles.  I then took my Faber Castell Gelato in Black Licorice and colored in the entire background, blending it into all the background texture with my fingers and leaving the circles uncovered.  I took my Liquitex Basics Acrylic paint in Titanium White and #2 Liquitex round paint brush and outlined each of the circles.  I added a few extra all white circles in some of the black areas and ta daaa!!!  Finito!

Here’s what it looks like now…..along with some close ups of that great texture.

There’s my version of ‘use what’s on your desk’…..lol.  All of the supplies I used I purchased at Limor Webber’s store.  She’s just added a BUNCH of new product and you honestly have to get on over to that link and check it out.  She carries some pretty amazing products.

Thanks for spending some time with me.  Until next time!
