Live, Love, Laugh

Who doesn’t like a little graffiti every now and then?  To be honest, I hate it when property is defaced no matter how good the graffiti artist, unless permission was granted before they created their little piece of art.  What I do love about graffiti is the freedom and talent of these individuals!! Some of them are amazing at their craft and I’d love to see them create on a blank canvas instead of a building or some other form of real estate.  Now, I’m by no means a graffiti artist, however, I do love Limor Webber’s new set she created for Lindy’s Stamp Gang called Neon Graffiti.  The colors are down right amazing and as always, you can never go wrong with the Lindy’s Stamp Gang sprays.  This particular set is a Flat Fabio, so no shimmer at all.

It’s a pretty straight forward page and you’ll have to check out my YouTube video oh how I created it and the journey this page took.  I’m in love with yet another of Limor’s signature spray sets.

So, here is the page.  I don’t have any close up shots of this one, so you only get one photo of this page.

Dream Catcher

You know when you get that drive and desire to create so you sit down at your work area and begin to look at your supplies.   Your heart is needing that art fix…..the therapy session…..but your brain just can’t seem to find the motivation to do a thing.  You spend the evening moving supplies around and accomplishing nothing.  That’s been me for the past few weeks…..and I hated it!!!  lol.  Limor released her January Mixed Media Creative Club on the 15th and I finally decided last evening I was just going to grab some paint and slap it down and that’s literally what I did!  My mom gave me the Canson Mix Media 7″ x 10″ art journal for Christmas so I took it completely apart because I wanted this journal to have to entire page painted and not have the white space at the edge where the coils go through the page.  I hope I made the right decision on that as I now have a pile of blank pages on my shelf that all need to find their way back into this journal as they’re completed!!  Fingers crossed!

So luckily for me, the technique Limor taught us this month asked us to do just that…..slap paint down on a canvas or page and once I was done with the original slap down, I sat back and looked at it and thought….ewwwww.  LOL  Then we added layers and layers of stencils and more paint.  I was still kinda looking at it like it was a hot mess….but I trusted Limor and her process.

After this was done the fun part started where we began to sketch out our Dream Catcher.  I should have taken a picture of this step but I always forget to take progress pics.  😦  Once it was sketched onto the page we began filling in the page to leave our Dream Catcher the focal point.  Very cool…..but I forgot about the inside of my Dream Catcher….

Of course, I’d already cleaned all my brushes and put my paints away…..ugh.  So out came the brush and paints again and I finished it off.  I quite like it!  Yet another technique I’d love to try on a canvas but just can’t bring myself to trust in my abilities yet to do that.  Here’s my finished page….

I might go around the edges with some black yet…..can’t quite decide on that yet so I’m going to leave it for a few days and come back to it.  Most of the supplies I used for this came from Limor Webber store…..link found here.I’ll put a list of products used and links to the store below.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by.  Please leave me a comment to let me know what you think.  If you haven’t subscribed to my blog yet I’d appreciate that too!  Until the next post…..

Yvonne

Washi Tape-off challenge

Standard

It’s been a long time my blog family & friends.  I haven’t felt like coming down to paint for a few weeks now and just this past week came back down to see what I could create.  I sat looking at my supplies the first night and then on Wednesday evening I sat and had a Skype chat with Tracy.  We had such a good chat……one I think I needed very badly.  I had a glass of wine…..she had a cup of tea….you’ll have to ask her why she was drinking tea.  Tracy did have one pretty big revelation while we were chatting and realized I was at my computer while I was talking to her……face to face…….on the computer.  (She should of thought about the whole cup of tea vs the glass of wine…..it may have been easier to explain the revelation……just sayin’ Tracy)  😉

So, what do you foolishly decide to do when you’re on a Skype call with a good friend and start talking about your stash of Washi Tape and what exactly we’re suppose to do with the stuff??  You agree to a Washi Tape-off challenge of course!!!  Then when you hang up you start to panic and wonder what the heck you were thinking!!! First of all, who agrees to any type of “Art-off’ with Tracy?  Secondly, who agrees to a Washi Tape-off when you’re still not even sure what anyone would use it for?!  Off to Pinterest I went to try to get some inspiration.  Found something I liked and the idea grew and here is it…..my first Washi Tape-off challenge extraordinaire!!!

I had fun with this page and played with my Faber Castell Gelatos, some India Ink, one of my Crafter’s Workshop stencils with Texture paste and my charcoal pencil.  I bought a stamp at Michel’s in their Dollar bin and had to include it.  “Life’s All About Plan B”.

So, there you have it.  I’m off to watch a couple of YouTube videos.

Thanks so much for coming…..I do so appreciate it.  ❤

Yvonne

The sky is the limit…

I decided after my last journal page looked like my butterflies were pooping blue to do another page for my Journal52 workshop.  I decided I’d stick with my same paper line as I really do like it.  I used a lot of products on this page that I picked up at the on-line store called Frosted Designs.

For this page I took two of the sheets from the October Mixed Media kit and tore some strips from it and just laid them every which way on my blank page for texture and some background color.  I grabbed a piece of tissue paper and wrinkled it all up and then adhered it to the page with ModPodge to add more texture.  Next, I took one of my new Crafters Workshop stencils I just got from the store called Mini Well Rounded and some wall repair compound and used one of the designs to add a bit more texture….notice a texture theme happening here….lol.  Once that was dry I sprayed the page with my Lindy’s Stamp Gang Jack In the Pulpit Teal.  Then I decided I wanted some feathers on the page using my new TCW Fancy Feathers stencil and wanted to use some colored texture paste (which is my wall repair compound).  I scooped out a little of each and added some of my Lindy’s Stamp Gang Magicals in Autumn Maple Crimson, Shabby Turbine Teal and Time Travel Teal.   I typed out my quote on some ordinary printer paper and sprayed it with some Lindy’s Shabby Turbine Teal (because I’d written it out and didn’t like the look of it and needed to cover it up….shhhhh.  😉 ), from the Lindy’s Industrial Chic set (as you know, one of my fave’s!!).  I added some black ‘splotches’ using the Mini Well Rounded stencil and my Donna Salazah Designs Mix’d Media Inx in Black, inked the edge and lightly on the front of my quote and around the edges of the whole page.  I also decided I needed a pop of color for the page so I took my Autumn Maple Crimson Magical and some water and my TCW Mini Circle Grid Stencil that was included in my November Mixed Media kit from the store and applied some random dots to the page.  A bit of washi tape and I was done!  Here’s what I ended up with…

Now I’m ready for Sandee’s next technique on her Sunday’s With Sandee over on the Frosted Design blog.

Thanks for sticking with me….until next time!!
