“Storms make trees” Art Journal page

Hello strangers.  I know I say this often….my poor neglected blog.  ;o)  I’ve been playing allot in my journal and have quite a few pages and canvas’s to catch up on.

This particular page started out with a bunch of very yummy texture.  I was at our cabin in the woods (I just love typing that…lol) and used my wall compound and a palette knife to apply the texture.

I had an initial idea to not cover the entire page with paint….to leave some white space….to have some of the text of the Tim Holtz tissue paper I used show through on the finished page.  Ya, I actually think it’s impossible for me to leave white space….lol.  Check out some of the amazing texture I achieved on this piece!!!

90-day Blog Challenge!!!

90-day Blog Challenge!!!

Really?!!  What have I gotten myself into??!!  So I’ve agreed to join 4 or so friends from a Facebook group called Mixing It Up Everyday where one of the members, Tamiko McCurry, challenged herself to 90 days of blog posting.  Not very long after, more and more of us joined in.  I’m off to a good start as I’m already a day late in starting….lol.  So I’m just going to say my start date was May 2nd.  My blog is something I haven’t been paying too much attention to lately and I’d love to grow my followers and that’s pretty hard to do when you’re only posting once a month!!  So, needless to say I have a ‘few’ projects that have never been posted and it’s time to get caught up.

This particular page takes me all the way back to Sept of 2014.  I’d gone to Edmonton to visit Limor Webber of Limor Webber Designs and take a small class by her and the following day we spent creating. This page was done using some Dina Wakely acrylic paints and I’m not even sure of the names of them.  I started out by adhering strips of paper randomly to the page and then started to apply the paint using my fingers.  Fun process!!  I added some whipped spackle through one of Limor’s stencils, some background stamps.  I stamped the quote out on some cardstock, cut it out and added it to the page.  Love the color combo!!

So…..post #1 done.  I think I’m going to try and figure out how to post date some more…..give me some breathing room!!  LOL

As always, I appreciate any comments and thank you so much for stopping by.

Lindy’s Stamp Gang sprays!

Standard

So I’ve had a weekend of firsts in my Art Journal.  I grabbed my Lindy’s sprays this evening and decided to play.  I found this quote today and it seemed to draw me in so decided to do a page for it.  I’ve never done a complete page only using sprays before and I had a blast….got full of ink ( ❤ ) and even played with some of my home made modeling paste and a stencil from Creative memories that I’ve had forever.  I didn’t feel the stencil had enough definition on the page so I decided to trace around it when it was dry.  Meh….perhaps should have left well enough alone but I still like it!

I love how the sprays created a page full of drippage!!  Although you can’t see it in the picture, I took a paint brush and did a light coating of some of my “A Bit o’ Bubble’ Starburst spray over the page…….I love the shimmer it leaves!!  The page was done with my Flat Fabio’s.  I used Pineapple Paradise, Mango Mania, Luscious Lime, Carabbean Blue, Plumeria Pink, and Hibiscous Rose.

Here you can sort of see the shimmer, the texture and the speckles of color all over!!

Really going to have to do this more often.  Perhaps a canvas next!!  We’ll see…..
